I was home in Germany. I was just out of the army and wondered what it would have changed if I had still been in the army. My parent's planned holiday to (Canada or the US?) was cancelled and they never went.

9/11 doesn't mean much to me. I wasn't even aware of the 20th anniversary,
and subconsciously wondered about various jokes (?) like

Science flies you to the moon. Religion flies you into buildings.

and only now it makes sense to me.
