It’s “Pride Month” in Thailand and to celebrate Vogue is featuring 5 drag queens. Call me old fashioned but drag queens leave me cold - certainly nothing to feel particularly proud about* nor something I’d want others to behold as a major symbol of what it means to be gay. Note by the way it’s no longer “Gay Pride” Month (too exclusive?) but simply Pride Month. Then there’s the TAT’s “gay friendly” slogan “Go Thai Be Free” which should gladden the hearts of all those sex tourists who’ve always thought paying for it is the norm in Thailand. Now they find it’s free! Who knew?!

* nor ashamed either, just to be clear - just not typical of the gay “identity” we supposedly all share.
