Taiwan Trip Report

it's a great country for sure. Hopefully it lives on for a long time. Winnie the Pooh seems to be really spoiling for a fight though.

There is a lot of natural beauty and as you say the transportation system is amazing. I was there for Pride 2019 (after spending 10 days or so in S Korea) and spent several days in Taipei and then took the train down to Kaohsiung for several days. Sadly I caught a cold while I was in Taipei which really slowed me down. My first couple of visits to Taiwan I arranged trips with an expat American guy who is a freelance photographer since photography was my main interest. The first trip was a drive down the east coast from Keelung to Taroko/Hualien. The second time we did more central places like Sun Moon Lake and some earthquake stuff and then some time in Lukang which was quite interesting - hand-stretched noodle makers, interesting temples.

I took the HSR down to Tainan on one trip for a 2 day, 1 night trip that was also quite interesting.

I've never had much luck with the apps, but I'm not the most attractive guy in the world. The massage places in Taipei worked well for me though.

I'm no spring chicken but always seem to attract young guys who are desperate to hook up with a 'Daddy' type. I can't recall which is the most active app, but I open them all to increase my chances!

One amusing story. I went to one of the Pride Parades 4 or 5 years ago. After I arrived in Taipei 2 days beforehand, I soon had an app message from a cute guy who said he knew me!! The evening before, I was sitting in the Red House having a drink with an old friend and watching the cute world walk by. Eventually one super cute guy walked by. We noticed he was looking around and assumed he was meeting up with a friend. Then he turned around and come up to our table. "Are you Armando?" he asked. This turned out to be my Macao friend. Now i regretted I would not be spending the night with him!

He came to the hotel the next morning and asked if instead of coffee he could come up to my room just to chat. Once in the room I hugged him. He then whispered in my ear. "Please fuck me. Now!" I told him it might be better if we waited and had more time after the Parade. "No, now! Please!" Well, what could I do? It was a delightful way to start the Parade!

Monday 22 to Friday 26
This was the first day of my 5-day round island tour. It sounds like this is the same tour that Armando mentioned above. It is available on TripAdvisor and I recommend it to anyone who wants to see the island in a short amount of time. If you are traveling for several weeks or a month, it might be better a DIY round trip around the island.

The tour visits Sun Moon Lake, Kaohsiung, Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum (the most beautiful Buddhist temple I've visited), Taitung,
and Taroko Gorge. All the days we stayed in rural areas, except for the 3rd day when we stayed in Kaohsiung downtown. This is was the only day I could hookup with locals.

We got to our hotel in the evening, 6 or 7 pm. I opened Grindr and an hour later a 19-year old smooth twink was in my hotel room.
