Where to for Christmas....?

Interesting to read of the desirable locations around the world where, in the event of Thailand still being shut for business, members can escape the madness that is Christmas in the UK. So, where to go: Brazil, Colombia, Morocco, Tunisia, Kerala, Goa (India will almost certainly not be open)?

Like so many of you, I'm struggling to decide on an alternative, as I don't think Thailand will be open for business this side of April at the earliest. So, where do we go that will offer warmth, value for money and "good" adonis-like company?

Tunisia has always had a certain reputation and is less intimidating than Morocco, which has changed beyond all recognition from the glory (hole) days of freeport Tangier (where it was not unusual to find Kenneth Williams sunbathing on the beach in a suit: similarly with Ronnie Kray)! In Tunisia I contracted dreadful poisoning courtesy of water melon rinsed under the hotel tap!! South America beckons, but where? I hear scary stories about Rio and its muggings etc. Argentina? Yes, but have they haven't forgotten our sinking of the Belgrano and will they seek revenge in the sauna?

What about Myanmar? Cambodia Taiwan? Taiwan - now there's an idea! I've never been because I get off Eva Air at BKK, but I do read some interesting reports.

Perhaps I should just accept the fact that this year it's going to be another cloudy, chilly winter with relatives in Gloucester, listening to Slade belting out their stuff in the supermarket, dying slowly in an unheated village church at midnight while singing the same old dross and watching the Sallie Army freezing their cornets off standing in the town centre, wishing they hadn't joined. My idea of listening to the 'Queen' on Christmas Day is enjoying the banter of an elderly actor friend (who once kissed Larry Olivier), recounting a selection of various gay sojourns that would have made William Burroughs and Robin Maugham blush!

Any ideas? Please send me a message, as I'm rapidly running out of them and beginning to panic.

at least this year you can thank the BBC that you have been spared the supposedly questionable lyrics of some British classics on the last night on the proms - Brittanica may not rule, but #CancelCulture certainly does!

I am in the same boat as you PG, after giving up on both my Songkran and Loy Kratong holidays I am slowly but surely realizing that my New Year holidays will not happen either

Locations I have considered:
Japan - it will be cold there in Jan (2-10 Celcius) but at least their saunas are warm
Cuba - I understand that their health care system is pretty good, but internet is practically non-existent and it's difficult to bring locals home
Colombia - If the Chaturbate guys are anything to go by then I'm in! However after watching Narcos I am thinking they may be the exception to the rule and the rest of them look like 70s porn stars
The Canaries - At least the weather will be good, and Covid instances are (currently) low
Cambodia - I understand there is at least one International class hospital in PP, and the gay scene there whilst small is lively
Taiwan - I am told its difficult t break into "circles" there, although there are always the apps (and ChristianPFCs recommended Sauna)

I'm tired of the whole "ME TOO" and "WOKE" thingy that is permeating every corner of the West. It's nothing short of a scheme drawn up by women to seize control of the world. Coming to think of it, though, they might not do a bad job. Let's ask Trump, Jinping, Putin, Khamenie, Tokayev, Kim Jon-Un, Al Saud, Erdogan, 'Mad'uro, Al-Assad.

PG, I think you should consider Japan. Clear blue skies every day and not so cold. Just dress appropriately and you'll be ok.

If you want sex, there are saunas in Tokyo and Osaka that welcome foreigners. Host bars are also an option but take lots of yen if you want to play.

Or take a guy with you. That's what I'm considering doing this Christmas/New Year if we are allowed to travel.

Cuba keeps cropping up when alternatives are considered. It's definitely moving up the rankings. I recall sitting in a once-desirable club in Prague in the early nineties listening with ears 'pricked' to a well-travelled fashion photographer tell of his adventures along the Malecon and the availability of so many would-be companions to suit all tastes.
