From time to time over the years there have been posts here about the Sultan of Oman - "never married, no children" - what in previous times used to be described as a "confirmed bachelor". Educated in Britain, his personal guard is made up of strapping young soldiers formerly with Britain's Brigade of Guards - the sort of young men who in former times frequented St James' Park in London.
