    Re: Earthquake in Bali

Sorry just noticed this thread and thanks for the concern and yes of course all fine. It actually was scary ( not coming from a place that has too many earthquakes that is). I arrived about 8.30am or do and literally the shaking of the bed and the walls and all the fittings there on was enough to wake me. I was more annoyed as I’d always wanted to be fucking when that happened so I could assure my partner that “no, it was me making the earth move for you!” - but alas I was fast asleep on my own.

I did jump out of bed whilst the shaking was going on and then realised right well I’ve got out of bed so NOW what am I supposed to do? And realised I’d absolutely no idea. I did recall something about standing in a door way but after a few seconds standing bollock naked in my bathroom doorway I felt a bit daft so just said fuck it and went back to bed !

Apparently it was 6.1 which the locals just shrugged their shoulders at as no big deal but you could certainly see how a quake with even just a bit more power changes EVERYTHING and all the safety minded things you think you know just go right out the heavily shaking window !

If the door or window from your room leads directly outside & away from the building, then a quick exit is probably best (opinion).
If you're in a larger building with no such direct route outside, then crawling under a table is what they do in earthquake drills in Japan (fact) and obviously it reduces the chances of head injuries when the parts of the ceiling come down on you (common sense).
