If you're referring to airbnb and short-term rental condos you need to check with the owners although I dont know how they can stop you. Smoke on the balconies if you must.

Nicotine addicts I find are wholly insensitive to the odor their drug use leaves behind. A non-smoker entering a room previously infested knows immediately of the vice (that these days is the one that dare not speak its name) that has been practised in those hallowed rooms. I image there’s a clause in the BNB agreement that they can levy a charge against the credit card for additional cleaning, just as there is in hotels
