    Gay wedding cakes

There's an excellent article in the latest New York Review of Books on the "gay wedding cake" case. As the article points out, the Supreme Court did not decide that the cake-baker had the right to discriminate against the gay couple; they held that in deciding the case the Colorado Civil Rights Commission displayed prejudice against the religious views of the baker. That is, it was a decision about process and not about rights

Yes, it was a very "narrow" decision. It settles nothing just admonishes the state commission for not taking the religious issue seriously in their deliberations. A little more thought in composing their decision might have led to a very different outcome.

One thing I found amusing is there were tons of people supporting the baker, saying it's his private business, and he should be allowed to run it how he wants, serve who he wants, etc.

Then those same people were absolutely outraged when Sarah Sanders, the Whitehouse press secretary got kicked out a restaurant because the owner didn't want to serve her due to her work in pushing Trump's agenda forward. Not allowed to happen, they said!

    Good stuff...

It merely proves that most people are stupid - but surely you knew that already?
