At my school we had a system of de-merits, 'awarded' for any misdemeanor. They were neither badges of honour nor of shame and were considered of little importance. My friend Ian, sadly no longer with us was the first to receive one and we 11 year olds had a little laugh at the whole thing. The system in place here is almost identical and surely no normal grown man would give such a thing the slightest whiff of bother. He would shrug it off and give it nary another thought. Because it's not worth screaming and bitching and smashing the place up about now is it.
Life is too short.
