For example, I know if we were to start the process today, it would take a good 10 years before Leo had a Canada passport in his hands, and it'd require us to live in Canada about 6 of those years.

Anyway, all the best to the two of you, and hope Trump doesn't fuck everything up for you guys due to the immigration reform being currently debated.
I could be wrong on the number of years. My spouse is managing the visa/citizenship process.
And yes the liar in chief of the USA and his cronies could change the US immigration rules and change our plans. As I have stated, when I retire - I go back and forth about living in SE Asian or someplace else.
Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one, and they all stink.

Three years is correct as indicated in the link to USCIS provided by the other poster above. If not married to a US citizen, then 5 years residence is required before applying for citizenship.

The only thing that Trump says he will maintain is the visa availability for spouse and minor children of US citizens. Everyone else will be eliminated if he succeeds in ending chain migration and the visa lottery. All part of his campaign to Make America White Again.

Thanks for the confirmation. I have been deferring to the spouse and have not looked into it.
He wants to live in the US or at least have a US passport. I would prefer to have a US passport and live somewhere other than the US.

Yeah, that stupid socialist Canada that continues to get #1 or #2 on the Human Development Index every year. What a stupid country.

Matt is clearly of the school of thought that zero means "nothing" and that, therefore, "10" is actually "1 + nothing = 1"

Well, if you're going to debate with me, you can't use images. What does that image say?

Leo went back to Laos this morning, and the dogs aren't very good at explaining what's in an image.

"debate"? I'm merely fact-checking, something you're quite capable of doing for yourself

I grew up in Washington State in the US. Over the years, I took quite a few trips up to British Columbia Canada and I do like Canada.
Nice people, eh? as you say a very high HDI which represents high education levels..etc..and who could not like the Canadian national institution that is Tim Hortons..However, the weather sucks.
It is possibly the shared misery of that terrible weather that drives the Canadian national character?
I know there is worse weather around the world but for some reason I usually ran into very bad weather on my trips up north.

While you're in a "fact checking" mood you might like to check out these facts.

Ah yes, you're referring of course to your own act of LM by holding that it was not apposite for The Queen (your Queen, by the way) to send her regular emissary to a royal funeral in Thailand
