Famous or infamous book titles and their mythical authors....

Just for a bit of fun and, more importantly as many of us are of mature years (i.e. over 21), to exercise our grey matter.

I went for a drink this evening with a very good friend of mine. He's a terrific guy: very funny and not unfamiliar with the "Carry on" series of films, so the humour was sharp and rapid fire this evening.

He said to me: "Do you remember the tendency years ago (I've heard similar in very recent years on BBC Radio 4) to invite listeners to nominate their favourite twist on the title of a fictitious book with an appropriate or inappropriate fictitious author.

One of his favourites was... "Wrestling with Bears" by Claude Balls. I counter-attacked with... "A History of the British Weather" by Ivor Nastikov., and "A history of Cliff top suicides" by Eileen Dover.

    Any more chaps?

Two well-thumbed volumes of particular interest to our members...
"A guide to Pattaya accommodation" by Roy O'Cliffe (features an updated chapter on Jomtien by Dee D. Ynne) and "Pattaya gay guide" ed. Sue Knee-Plazza
"The fruits of peace and tranquility... are the greatest goods... while those of its opposite, strife, are unbearable evils. Hence we ought to wish for peace, to seek it if we do not already have it, to conserve it once it is attained, and to repel with all our strength the strife which is opposed to it. To this end individual[s]... and in even greater degree groups and communities are obliged to help one another... from the bond or law of human society." [Marsilio dei Mainardini (c.1275-1342), Defensor Pacis]
