I certainly did look below his belly button but don't recall any Chinese writing but that was not what I staring at. He is named Jap because of his facial resemblance to Japanese.Or so the story goes.

That would be very odd indeed, if true. Anything Japanese is referred as yiipun in Thai or Jare-pair-nis in English by Thai people. Jap is a derogatory contraction that is mostly used by farangs (Americans especially?). I could be wrong but his name could be a poor or simply convenient shortened version of the very common Thai name Jeap ("chee-yup") as a result of years of farang mispronunciation.

That sounds right sglad. Never heard a Thai person referring to a Japanese person, as Jaap, in English or Thai. Always as you have it.

Perhaps not heartless, Rolling Stone, but you may have memory problems. Have you been tested for dementia?
