    Re: Changes for 2018?

I don't care, I'm just happy they're not going to require me to travel back to Canada on a ETD (emergency travel document), and instead will issue me a passport in Bangkok. They could have easily done so, because I had to request leniency, as I don't have any photo ID. All I had was my old passport that expired more than 1 year ago, so can't technically be used as photo ID.

And to obtain photo ID, I need to be physically present in Canada. I included my MRI results, and proof that Leo and myself are in a genuine relationship, and explained that it would currently be impossible to secure him a visitor VISA to Canada, as we don't have enough proof to convince the Canadian government he will return to Laos, and me going back to Canada on my own would just be a really bad idea.

Thankfully, they accepted my explanation, and will issue a 5 year passport. I just need to complete that form 116, and provide a letter of intent and whatever proof I can that we will leave Thailand and move to Vientiane.

Matt, can you ever return to Thailand after you moved to Laos or are you blacklisted?

Don't know yet. More than likely, I'm getting blacklisted for 10 years. Depends on how much money I make this coming month, and whether or not we can find a senior immigration officer (or a immigration lawyer who knows one), and wants a new car in exchange for getting me across that border without issue.

I'm not overly worried about being detained. Nobody is going to arrest a blind guy, because that's just a dick move. That, and who the hell wants to take care of a blind guy? Just ask Leo, it's a complete pain in the ass, haha.

That Cndmatt is the dumbest, most stupid, most juvenile, most vacuous, most imbecilic post you've ever written on this board.
    Congratulations.

    Congratulations.

Thank you. I'll take that as a compliment.

Perhaps, but it's yet another "dumbest, most stupid, most juvenile, most vacuous, most imbecilic post" that he's written that will receive hundreds of comments and thousands of views.

Exactly. You're quite correct. That's because cdnmatt is a message board troll. He lives for the "comments and the thousands of views". It's what trolls do.

Clearly you completely misunderstand the Internet. That's what every internet-centred business does - seek thousands of views. There's even an specialisation for it - SEO (Search Engine Optimisation).A "troll" on the other hand means pretty much whatever the writer intends - my rule-of-thumb is "troll = someone with whom I disagree". A slightly more sophisticated version is "someone who clearly doesn't take me seriously". The Internet as you should have realised by now is absolutely crammed full with people who believe that the right not to be offended (let alone have their beliefs or prejudices challenged) forms part of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Matt is only a troll in the sense that you don't like what he posts - and he posts a lot of it

This going to be interesting. From Laos you can travel fairly easily (by air) to Cambodia, & Vietnam. By land of course you can travel to .... let me think now ... ah yes, Thailand - but you expect to be banned by the Thais for 10 years as an illegal immigrant. Friends who live in Laos look forward rather to their monthly or quarterly visits across the Mekong to buy everyday consumables not available there. What will you do? Send Leo?
