    Police breath tests,

The police are out in force now, breath testing for drinking and driving/riding. Obviously their preferred prey are farangs on motorbikes but the 6/7 times I saw them they breath tested everything and anything. They've set up various semi-permanent checkpoints around Pattaya. The fine is 10000 baht (so I'm told) so if you're drinking I suggest you don't drive or ride. I was tested 4 times and the other 3 they recognised me and just waved me on.

I can't believe that people still need to be told not to drink and drive/ride. Lots of mocy guys around to take you where you want to go.
Hitchhiking's more of a challenge on the road less travelled.

Yes, with large Leo/Chang bottles (full&empty) under their taxi stand seats.

It always used to worry me when I saw lots of full and half empty bottles on the ground where the motorbike taxi guys congregate.

Eventually I realised it was petrol in them and not booze - but I still wouldn't rule out them drinking it!!

But the petrol comes in bottles that once contained whisky (screw cap, colorless glass, different shape than beer bottles).

The mocy taxi drivers near where I stay can be seen guzzling beer morning noon and night.
