England Win World Cup!

Oh shite!

In over 50 years they have never shut the fuck up - when in 1966 they won the World Cup courtesy of the referee deciding that the ball didn't have to cross the line to result in a goal.

Now they have won the World Cup again! Jesus fuck, I'm depressed.

The fact that it's the Under 17's World Cup won't stop them holding street parties with Union Jack bunting (despite the fact it's not their flag), swilling gallons of warm beer, chomping down vast quantities of jellied eels and pie and mash, then going home and beating up the missus.

I'd love to say I'm delighted for them (which I am, and well deserved - a fine bunch of athletes), but I'm forbidden by the Irish Constitution from saying anything nice about the English (not too much of a strain usually)

Only 16 teams in the finals in 1966. England at home for the tournament so no need to qualify. . As mentioned by Scottish, referee and linesman getting it wrong. Not an unblemished win in my view.

Now there's some honesty we can appreciate.

But quite frankly The England National Football Team (at any level) will take any success they can get.

As predicted the triumph/glory is on the front page of almost every English newspaper featured on the BBC's Newspaper Review.

The Times proclaims "We've won the World Cup", The Mirror cries "England World Champs", The Star orgasms "We've won the World Cup AGAIN" - with the first two titles omitting to mention it was the Under 17s at all and the third having it in small print.

Just waiting for an announcement in Parliament now, a national holiday, and a spate of knighthoods

They're 15/16 years old Scottish so maybe allow them their moment of joy and glory. What difference does it make to you?

Clearly it's the media reaction I'm pointing the finger at, not the achievement or the players.

As to what it has to do with me - it's in my face and I'm reacting to it.
