I suspect the last thing the Chinese desire is complete and utter chaos on their border and a stones throw from Beijing. From watching the news yesterday the cutting off of oil supplies to N Korea by China will be a game changer for their economy-if it happens.
Two untrustworthy countries have land borders with N. Korea - China & Russia.
They have been playing games all along with the West and the Rest I think. Otherwise how could the Junta acquire so much sophisticated technology in so short a time?

It depends on technology. Some are too expensive to copy and is much cheaper to buy original. Samples: Russia has no own computer processors and buys them from US. US has no own heavy rocket engines and already over 25 years buys them from Russia.
