    Re: Bar boy deaths

This is a disturbing topic because these all-too-many deaths, though not close to home, are part of the gay-bar culture that I certainly supported.
Almost all the deaths are premature and many are the result of preventable STDs.
A few guys come to mind such a the happy-go-lucky M who worked in a go-go in Sunnee.
He died 2 years ago from pneumonia in a Thai hospital.
His mother lived in Jomtien and she had to cremate her child before he had reached his 24th. year.
He made a lot of money in his day and lived a short high life but he didn't have any left when he needed specialist care.
There are many cases like his.

TB is often the first indication of infection and then comes pneumonia. Falangs who meet Thais with persistent coughs, night-sweats, loss of appetite (and of course weight) should do their best to encourage the guy to go to a hospital, quickly. Both TB and pneumonia can be treated effectively even if the patient is hiv+.

Hookers get deadly diseases that kill them? Would have never guessed!

Sorry, but that was pretty rude. On another note, life isn't overly valuable here. I think you can get someone murdered for about 20,000 baht.

Or another way to go is just borrow money from the mafia, and don't pay them back. That will do it.

TB is still a scourge in Asia.
A former Sunnee "doorman" with whom I'm still friendly contracted TB 2 years ago. He's HIV negative.
He was lucky in that he worked in a large fish processing factory in Bangkok and the condition was detected early during a routine medical checkup carried out bt the company doctor.
All his medication and consultation was free but he had to take 9 months unpaid leave.
That's where I came in and I'm very glad that I helped.
He's now TB free and is working normally again. He's married and has 2 kids and they have their father.
I would have helped M too but I wasn't aware of the situation until it was all over.

Sorry, but karma doesn't work worth a shit.

Several times now Leo has came into my room, and asked, "why do bad things always happen to good people?", and he's right. More times than not it's the greedy, manipulative assholes who make out better in this world. They might not have much of a soul left, but nonetheless....

Most cultures have a sense of Karma and temping fate is not generally a good idea.
But it does seem that evil often triumphs.
The field of the nasties here is dominated by one or two with a few 3rd raters thrown in.
But they're probably Trolls when it all boils down.

Good to see some members trying to keep on topic.

The road accident statistics for Thailand as posted a few months back were among the very worse in the world. Even worse than Vietnam, which beggars belief having seen the driving standards in Vietnam & up to 3 proper accidents scenes viewed from just one bus trip.

I suppose the difference might be down to more widespread vehicle use & speed in Thailand.

Of course, STDs are the factor which should perhaps get more discussion here.

    Re: Bar boy deaths

karma is not real..its simply a coping mechanism employed by the weak ....its akin to religion...gives them the ability to persevere in the face of injustice....of which there is plenty the world over...the number of mini-dictators employed by multi-nationals is staggering.
Bon Tong....not sure if the situation in CM is unique...but in my vast experience with MB in BKK and Pattaya the term straight is very very elastic...maybe its also a coping mechanism...as in "Im not gay I just do this because all my buffalo die and I need money" ....
This topic is a real downer...when in Thailand I'm in "holiday" mode...even when Im at work...one of the few places where i can act out fantasies and kinks...behave like the usual rules dont apply...
