    Re: The Pattaya Road Tunnel

I was in the car. My focus was on drive (which would imply I'm at the steering wheel) versus ride (I'm a passenger) which I messed up before.

I take it that English is not your native language and if that is so small mistakes are to be expected.
    Most reasonable people know this.

Since christian is fluent in at least three languages, it is not appropriate for a monolingual to call him out on the use of a preposition.

I don't usually object when the Thais in my circle finish their sentences with a proposition.
    Re. The Pattaya project etc
I'm impressed by what Thailand has achieved in terms of the many projects that have been successfully completed.
Some were joint ventures with foreign companies but so what?
The Sky Train and the underground systems work very well in Bangkok. As was already mentioned the water table is very close to the surface there.
However there are big challenges ahead for BKK if sea levels rise.
I think the Dutch Dykes are the only hope.
It was commonly predicted that the Airport Rail Link would never happen because of the Taxi lobby etc but it did happen and it's now making our lives easier when we grace the LOS with our collective presence.

    Thanks for your support, but:
I consider myself fluent in two languages (German and English),
and having a good understanding of written French, Russian, Thai.
I don't know how many languages sglad speaks, do you?
I'm always open for corrections of my writings.
Even I recognized that one (in/on the car) as a joke in the context of flooding.

I believe he just speaks English but I could be wrong. He has never mentioned his linguistic accomplishments so he might be multilingual for all we know.

we can safely assume that sglad cannot read and write Thai. But being Singaporean, he might speak other languages of Singapore.

According to the Constitution of Singapore,[1] the four official languages of Singapore are Malay, Mandarin, Tamil, and English, while the national language is Malay.[2] The three languages other than English were chosen to correspond with the major ethnic groups present in Singapore at the time...
Almost all Singaporeans are bilingual since Singapore's bilingual language education policy promotes a dual-language learning system. Learning a second language has been compulsory in primary schools since 1960 and secondary schools since 1966.[11] English is used as the main medium of instruction....
