    The Pattaya Road Tunnel

Apparently the Pattaya road tunnel is due to open on Aug 25th. Many are concerned that the tunnel will, rather than ease traffic congestion actually drown anyone in it whenever it rains heavily. So, we need a member to go there during an absolute blockbuster of a thunderstorm and find out exactly what happens in such circumstances. Ideally they should take a camera and position themselves in the middle. This board gained a (deserved) reputation for cowardice when no one was prepared to travel on the Pattaya-Hua Hin ferry and this is an opportunity to show gayboardland that we're made of the right stuff. Who would like to volunteer to perform this valuable service?

I recommend Rabbi Poxxx - if the tunnel does flood, he can save everyone from drowning by simply parting the waters like his forebear did.

OK, Latin, you can man the camera. I'll stand on your shoulders.

Just make sure you turn up at the right tunnel - blind as a bat Matt may be able to guide you - as judging from your bar reviews, you have a habit of getting confused as to which bar you are in!

Let's send Freakybum. Worst case scenario is it floods, and who'd miss him?

I was in Chiang Mai during a thunderstorm that left the area in front of Maya mall flooded, but the northern bypass tunnel was dry when I rode through it on a car shortly after. So they seem to be able to build a tunnel that does not flood.

Am I the only one who was shocked that Bangkok now has a subway? I had always assumed that as impossible due to the water table. This tunnel should be a breeze.

Perhaps you would like to volunteer personally. Before you do, however, you might want to rent some SCUBA gear . . .

Well we really need someone local who doesn't have a full time job, has both a car and a bike to test both and who has some means to tell as many people as possible about it so.......

But why did you sit on the car? Was it some kind of precaution in case the tunnel did flood?
