    Prostate cancer and PSA testing

I read with interest the thread started by Pattayamale on Gaybuttonthai on this topic. Although it does not apply to me personally, it aroused my curiosity as my Pa is over 50 and my both my grandpas are over 70. Besides, things like this are good to know at any age. I did a bit of googling and apparently there has been some debate in Singapore on the efficacy of testing. There's also a new test that's supposed to be more effective than the old one but costs more, naturally. Here are some of the links which I found which I hope will be useful reading to some of you:

Not necessarily, MRI scans on the prostate can show up conditions like Prostatitis which is relatively benign but causes shadowing very like aggressive PC. Then most clinicians will recommend a biopsy anyway.
My advice unless you have very obvious symptoms of PC is to avoid PSA tests altogether unless you can get the better Percent-free PSA test and even then it really only proves you may have the disease and not whether it will kill you.

Modern medical advice is that the way to minimise the risk of prostate cancer is to have more sex

Does wanking 4x a day count the same as "more sex"?

    Just asking like

    I think so.
    The end justifies the means.

Nope. And neither does being a wanker.
