They did not bother anyone. Their neigbours were kind of spying on them to catch them.

Exactly. Also the intolerance in these countries & amongst their followers is astonishing.
To be fair, there are aspects of their culture I don't like much, but we don't consider caning people for going to a place of worship and minding their own business.
They do cane people for minding their own business. A big difference.
