It's his other senses we sometimes worry about
Just kidding, Francois
I don't know MATT but wish him the best and if he really wants to find the best eye specialist in BKK, I strongly recommend him to send member SHERYL of the thaivisa Forum a PM.
She is a health care expert herself, worked for NGO's and seems to know virtually EVERY great physician in the country. Or start a new topic there asking for an eye specialist, it will usually be less than 24 hrs until she will react when she sees such a post. In 12 years living in BKK I used her recommendations many times and it was spot on in 100% of the cases. Good luck
Rutnin Eye Hospital on Asoke in Bangkok has a sterling reputation. I can personally recommend and the costs are reasonable which of course is a secondary consideration when talking about one's vision.
No, Canada is out of the question for a host of reasons, which I don't want to get into as I'm stuck using a screen reader to write messages. But no, I would not have access to free healthcare if I moved to Canada. I would first have to reside in the same province for 6 months before being eligble to apply, and from there it's about $60/month, although fee varies on province. For the initial abouy 7 months, I wouldbe charged full non-resident / tourist prices.
And screen reader is pissing me off, so I'm done.
....in the name of Jesus/Buddha/Allah?whatever....get some real help...some of these conditions are very ( as in very very) time sensitive as nerves/tendons/ligaments die over time if not seen to. personally without being offensive I think u r a fuck idiot for not doing something IMMEDIATELY....but then thats me.
And lastly...the crap u carry on about Canada and how u would not qualify......I find it simply incredulous that if u showed up blind at a Canadian hospital with a condition that could be resolved in a timely fashion....that u would be turned away due to a lack of funds...its not the US!?
If Matt had of kept up his monthly fee to the BC medical system (now $75 a month) he'd be under care immediately he hit the ground. Apparently he chose to forego that, and may well pay a higher price.
I had not heard about dangers of eye problems during flights mentioned above by Fountainhall. I defer to him on that part.
So what would any one (of a host!) of those reasons be? Are you hiding away?" ... No, Canada is out of the question for a host of reasons ... "
Very very odd indeed. Fascinating as well.
No Smiles, making monthly payments while being an expat would be breaking the law, and you still wouldn't be covered if found out.
I'm not hiding from anything. Grab a blindfold, have someone install something called "NVDA Screen Reader", then while blindfolded login to GT and type up a long post. You'll quickly realize why I have no patience to ecxplain anything in detail.\
