Those are the upmarket host bars with mostly a female clientele - but they are rich and sometimes far from young, but successful hosts can make tons of cash after their 2 years of training. Sex is never mentioned in the bars, but it is implicit if the client is interested in the boy.

That host bar is in the Kabukicho area of Tokyo, a short walk from the gay area.
Is been to a couple of host bars with some female friends, although they weren't as classy as the one shown in the video. (The bars, I mean, not the girls!) Sometimes girls go with their husbands or boyfriends. Unfortunately m a guy can't go by himself.
One of the bars had a Roman themed night with the guys wearing togas and sexy underwear. The girls had great fun putting their hands up the toga to have a grope. Knowing I was gay, they took my hand and put it up a host's toga so I could also have a feel. The host wasn't fazed at all. In Japan, the customer is king. I've got to say there was nothing much to get excited about.

In gogo bars in Thailand, there is no training at all I would say. I had some offs who had no skill at all.
You have to remember that the host bars in that vdo are totally unlike those with the young guys in the website I posted earlier in the thread. The boys in the earlier one are 'employed' for one reason and only one - sex! The essence of the much more sophisticated host/hostess bars is on flattery, making the client feel like a million dollars, making sure they buy the most expensive drinks, flirting, making polite conversation on a wide variety of topics - and so on. In other words, these guys have to exhibit a whole lot of social skills that the average prostitute certainly won't possess. Quite a few guys will be university graduates. Who trains them, I have no idea, but it is unlikely there will be tuition in sexual services. Surprisingly, sex is not a major element in the up-market bars and some owners insist their hosts never discuss sex and never let clients take them off for sex. The whole point is to keep them in the bar as long as possible.
The amount of money passing hands in those bars, though, is huge. Some is from the client to the bar in the form of hugely expensive drinks prices; some from the bar to the boys in commissions; and a great deal more from the clients directly to the boys. If the client feels really great with a host, she will adopt him so that he is always available when she comes to the bar. Such adoption may also involve providing cars and apartments (as gifts!), other luxury goodies and overseas holidays from particularly rich ladies, some of whom may be in their 60s and 70s. Even so, I am sure sex has to be part of such an expensive arrangement, but who knows?
