Welcoming the big spenders to Pattaya

According to the article below the average tourist to Pattaya in Feb spent the majestic total of 3700 Baht or about $120. This is what happens when you go all out for the tour group market.

I'd have thought it's more a reflection on the sort of person who goes to Pattaya

Is that 3700 baht a day? That would seem, not extravagant, but a little more reasonable than a survey stating something like 3700 baht in total. Does that include accomodation? How long were these folks in Pattaya for: one day, 6 days, 2 weeks, a month? The figure 3700 baht is meaningless without also including a length-of-time metric.

(I haven't read the linked article yet. PattayaMail is a rag at the best of times).
Just another reason why I love living in Thailand

IM a bit tight , now im retired but I tend to spend approx. 75000 over a 2 week period not including hotel , so I think that 3700 must be based on the Chinese market

If we interpret this figure as total expenditure over 3 weeks, it would come down to an absurdly low 177 Bath per tourist per day. Even our most frugal forum members spend way more than this.
I guess these figures must be per day, i.e. 3.700 Bath per tourist per day. For an average per tourist (instead of per family or per room), this seems like a lot, even including accomodation etc.

It's total spend per tourist. Remember most tourists don't come to Pattaya for weeks on end. They come for a few nights as part of a package deal. And package tourists from China, India, the middle east et al don't go out and spend much money because they don't have much money to spend. That's why they're four to a room, two to a motorcycle and as many as they can get away with to a Thai boy/girl/transgender.

Grow up guys. Its a local rag and prints shit like all local rags do!
The article goes on to say that tourism is up 20%. So who has replaced all the Russians??
Throw the paper back in the gutter where it came from!
