Well I guess I better watch out what I say to whom. Hopefully I am richer that that person so that my opinion will always prevail.I suppose too that I could never have a conversation with them since they would have nothing to say. And what about shopping at the market ? Shouldn't I always get things at my price since I know better than you do. Of course this kind of thinking is prevalent in the country as I have seen it in the people whom I may speak with...Thai I mean. If there is any form of disagreement in general conversation...especially if it was to be political or some other touchy subject, there is the need to back away from the chat as it is uncomfortable for them to discuss. This in my opinion come from too much hammering from the top. Free speech and free thinking is not easily obtained here in LOS. A shame isn't it? Oh well! Mai pen rai.

I am not sure if the original poster is aware or not, but the source for this "story" is notthenation.com. If you are unfamiliar with this site, its name is a play on the Thai daily "The Nation" and is a satirical news website akin to The Onion. While the story itself is a joke, it's a play on the furor over Thai PBS broadcasting a debate on the monarchy and the predictable threats and condemnation that followed.

No, you might say it is satire or comedy, but the reality of Thai politics is far more fun and even more bizarre. .
