    Well a447,

Don't know about you, it appears only these couple of drop dead gorgeous gays from ' down under ' can have the Cambodians drooling after them wherever they go, eh?

So, no mention of any big scene that me and you missed out on then?.......... That makes me feel better!

I share your disappointment with the gay scene, however I as do you, like the Country. It has a stronger buzz and vibe than Lao but I stick with what I said, Lao is far better ' tradewise' and the scene in Lao is none commercial, it's just the mentality is similar to the Thais sexwise.

There are many Lao who will have sex without monetary considerations but plenty of good/great looking ones that want money too such as those in the Universities. And long may it continue in my view.

I've said many times here, I am not after a new love of my life just like to spice up my existing life now and again. In my travels, I found many Cambodians I ran into wanting you to sponsor them through ' university, financial help etc as some kind of Sugar Daddy without the sex! I'll give that one a miss thanks.

I preferred the Cambodians I used to run into in Pattaya and even in the big house. They were far more accommodating but we must all speak as we find.

It's not just us young guys who get all the attention in phnom penh. I know one retired british expat who is around 70 years old. Every day he has to knock back hot young Guys who are trying to sleep with him. Some are friends of his boyfriend and some he just meets t the riverfront area while going about his daily business. He has to constantly knock them Back as he and his 20 year old cambodian boyfriend have a monogamous relationship.

    Well,

I'll pop over and give him a helping hand because I am very kind spirited in areas such as these! Hate to see the poor man getting stressed with young lads when in his dotage, it's just not fair.

Lol. Nice one Kev. I concur with your observations of the scene in PP. Just returned from a weekend in PP. Heart of Darkness not a bad place. Seemed to work well as a mixed club. I took the other half and he really enjoyed himself with all the farang attention there...lol. Blue Chilli I thought was god awful. A crap show and customers all standing outside on the street. The customers and boys had all seen better days in my mind. Give it a miss I reckon. Checked out Rainbow Bar(yet another camp show) aggghhh but some nice guys as hosts if that is what you're looking for. Checked out GR which was not that busy and many many money boys. Ended up with a young Aussie guy off there as I was having trouble getting local guys into my hotel. PP ok for a weekend but in no way can it be compared to the Thailand scene. Considering the country's history maybe give it a few years and the guys will have woken up the commercial aspects of the business :bounce:

Nor have I. That's why I go elsewhere to meet hot guys.

Thanks... I disagree with your notion that the Phnom Penh gay scene is not as "commercialised" as the one in Thailand.

I think both countries have a reasonably clear line between the normal/genuine gay scene and commercial sex scene and it's just as easy to find both types of scenes in both countries.

It's as easy to find the normal/genuine gay scene in Bangkok as it is in Phnom Penh. But I think tourists in Bangkok might go to the gogo bars first because they're the most visible for tourists, as opposed to PP where the most visible gay or gay-mixed bars, Blue Chilli and HOD, aren't gogo bars at all.

Having said that, everyone has a different experience and you've probably spent more time there than I have. I was only in Phnom Penh for a week.

LOL... you're going to have to tell us what happened there. How did YOU get slapped?!

I described in a previous post how invited a cute Cambodian guy I met at HOD back to my place. His jealous mate who had been hitting on me all night followed us and they ended up having an extended shoving match in my hotel! Shocker of a night that was... Got a lot of smiles from the hotel security guard too!

Hence the sarcasm in response to the suggestion that the scene in Cambodia is as commercialized as in Thailand.

Thailand is more commercialized in the sense that the vast majority of farang oriented gay bars in thailan exist entirely for the single purpose of prostituting their staff out to the customers. Whereas in Cambodia the moneyboys are incidental and operate independently from the bars which exist to profit from the sale of drinks rather than from renting out the bar staff.
