Aiport workers such as firemen etc are planning to go on strike - the result, not just part of an airport closing but the whole of an airport, which will totally closed, such as Heathrow. Manchester Luton Gatwick not affected as they are not BAA owned.

Flights out of vancouver shouldn't be affected unless they are scheduled to stop at Heathrow on the way to Thailand. Even then I'd have thought they could be diverted to stop at Gatwick or some other airport instead.
