Those were the days my friend . . .
Once upon a time there was a tavern
Where we used to raise a glass or two
Remember how we laughed away the hours
And think of all the great things we would do
Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way
La la la la la la
La la la la la la
La la la la La la la la la la . . .
Since we are going down memory lane in Pattaya on another topic, I thought we really shouldn’t exclude Bangkok. I was surprised at how many video clips there are on YouTube about gay nightlife in Bangkok. I selected three videos covering Soi Twilight and Silom Soi 4. The first is a 21 minute video from September 2017. It covers Soi Twilight, Silom Soi 4 and the nightclubs. The second video is about Silom Soi 4 and posted as recently as February 2020. And the third video is a short 1 minute video covering a stroll down Soi Twilight in 2010.
Ah yes, those were the days . . .

Thanks Jellybean.
I hope you don't mind, but I've altered your poem a bit:
Once upon a time there was a tavern
Where we used to raise a glass or two
Remember how we laughed away the hours
And think of all the great things we would do
The bars are all closed and we're enduring the heat
Confined to watching porno and beating our meat
Counting the days till all will return
But still no vaccine and feeling the burn
We're afraid to have sex without wearing a mask
And how we suck cock is something you don't ask
We know one day this will all surely pass
But right now the government has its head up its ass.
End

Not at all, Dodger, I think you did a marvellous job successfully updating my quote to fit these, how shall I put it, ah yes . . . rather perplexing times.
For those who didn’t recognise it, my quote was from a 1968 song by the British singer Mary Hopkin (See video below):

It's weird if you think about it. I would love to be in Thailand but if not vaccinated... Now, I am in my country, bored, but vaccinated and relatively safe.
Re: Those were the days my friend . . .
An American friend living in Thailand sent me the following video about Bangkok during lockdown. Although from 2020, I thought it was worth posting on this topic. Initially, it all looks rather bleak, but it ends on an uplifting note.
