New Angkor Wat dress code

In a bid to encourage visitors to respect the sanctity of the temples and Cambodian culture, beginning August 4, visitors will be required to wear pants or skirts below the knees and a T-shirt that covers the shoulders.
Re: New Angkor Wat dress code
Although I guess to respect the sanctity of the temples even more the locals in Cambodia could stop breaking off and stealing large chunks of the temples on the black market just as quickly as they are being repaired by the myriad of other Countries who are pumping large sums of money into preserving the temples for them, just a thought.

Now the story emerges:
"Early last year there was a small spate of Western tourists who posed naked for snapshots, and those who were caught were fined and deported."
Re: New Angkor Wat dress code
So crap behaviour all round.
Re: New Angkor Wat dress code
The Cambodian government on Friday announced a major increase in entrance fees for the Angkor temple complex, with the cost of a one-day ticket nearly doubling to US$37 from early next year.

Re: New Angkor Wat dress code
As per insider info they also have plan to ban all cars and tuk-tuks to run inside Angkor park and to substitute them with electrical shuttle buses.
Re: New Angkor Wat dress code
Hi,
There is a French company already renting electric cars with drivers in and around the park - as you would expect they cost more than the usual Camray or Tuk Tuk, presumably they would still be allowed to operate in the event of the introduction of electric buses. They have a 100km range so can visit some of the further temples and are apparently 4x4 so wet season travel and off roading is possible.
Cheers
Re: New Angkor Wat dress code
What is it with idiots who want their naked bums in photos at sites like Angkor Wat! The same thing happened at Mt. Kinabalu in Malaysia last summer with the same result - fines and deportation, but also with a few days in jail.
