Thailand's Crime Suppression Division is investigating an online group for men who want to have sex with Buddhist monks or who have a fetish for dressing like them
Thai police are probing an online gay Buddhist monk fetish group
Thai authorities have launched an investigation into a Facebook group for gay men who have fantasies about having sex with Buddhist monks and novices and for men who have a fetish for dressing up as monks.
Thailand has laws criminalizing insults against religion and the group was reported to the authorities by nationalist group Network Against Acts that Destroy the Nation, Religion and the Royal Institution.
According to the groupтАЩs leader Songkran Atchariyasap the page is a forum and meeting place for gay men with monk fetishes and contains a pornographic video which appears to show a monk having sex with a novice.
The Thai Police Crime Suppression Division opened an investigation based on AtchariyasapтАЩs complaint after he showed them the pornographic video.
Atchariyasap claims to have tracked down the identity of the men in the video and believes the man dressed as a monk lives in Northern Thailand and that the man who dressed as a novice lives in Bangkok.
Around 800 people have joined the group according to AtchariyasapтАЩs investigations and he fears that if nothing is done it could cause serious damage to the reputation of Buddhist monks in Thailand.
Although Thailand has a reputation for being an LGBTI friendly travel destination, gay and transgender people are still seen as a disappointment by many Thai parents who will sometimes pressure them to become monks against their will rather than live openly as who they are.
In May of 2013 it was considered a scandal when a series of photos of young monks who had arranged their robes like womenтАЩs dresses went viral on social media.

. . . and the context and your personal point of view regarding this unbelievably devious plot to un-frock the already-frocked and then lead them into Fetish Land is ...
Do you know that monks do not wear underwear, and, even worse, no shoes or sandals; a fetish if I've ever heard of one.
Where is this going.

Smiles you are into drugs already, so early into the day. Use the link if you want to know where this is going

Is this a provocative invitation to scottish-guy to tell us of the joys of going commando under the kilt? Frankly I'm disappointed that the Wombat didn't provide details of this where to join this particular online group; I have a number of friends whose fetish is definitely of the "novice monk" kind and I'd happily pass on such details

That's the problem with facebook, one wrong "Like" click and you're on Santa Prayut's naughty list...LOL.
Seriously though, I just "Unliked" them, I hope that's enough to escape the probing.

Now I understand the real reason behind the original post: Lonely Wombat desires more 'probing', not less. Perhaps he's a closet Jesuit?

If there's two things you don't do in Thailand is screw with the royaty, or the monks. Both are off limits.
Oh, and take your shoes off when you walk into an establishment, lol
Re: police probing online gay Buddhist monk fetish group
One time in Taipei, Taiwan, I had a monk who was in full monk attire come up to me on the street just in front of my hotel and offer me $100 for sex. I was so shocked. I couldn't believe it. ( I turned him down by telling him I didn't have time because I was meeting someone. ) True story tho.

I chuckled at their use of "probing" in the headline when I first saw this story as well. It's nice to see that some one at the Bangkok Post has a sense of humor.
