Maybe. But it would be more true, if I did most of my travels in Thailand, which has that reputation. In the last five years, I've (officially) done Thailand a couple of times, but I've also been to China, Laos, Cambodia, and particularly Vietnam.

The approach I tried on my last Asian sojourn was to offer a price range, say (the equivalent of) 1000-1500 baht for a couple of hours service, depending on how I feel at the end of it.

On those rare occasions, things would have to be pretty sour before I pay them.
