A video tour of Pattaya take today after the latest lockdown......
A youtube video tour of Pattaya as posted today by "everything Pattaya" showing Pattaya as the latest lockdown kicks in...... sad to see but I fear is the way things will be going there for a while yet :-(
Interesting story in the commentary too re "tea money" and a friend of his getting fucked over ( or not depending on your view I guess) by their shop landlord for not paying on time.

Re: A video tour of Pattaya take today after the latest lockdown......
I’ve said it before ...Chernobyl.
Few points:
Firstly, about 3/4 through he said the time was 1 o’clock, so he started a bit earlier than that. Nothing much is open at those times anyway. Thailand is a “late in the day” sort of place. Well it was before lockdown.
Secondly, Irish it was KEY money I heard him talking about...but yes someone being done over.
The scenes were similar to what I saw earlier this year, but it has to be said were only seen in tourist areas which is where he took the video.
Other parts of Pattaya, particularly on the dark side, were “situation normal”. I expect they still are, more or less.
Re: A video tour of Pattaya take today after the latest lockdown......
I thought Pattaya was opening in 5 weeks in September? Is that still on?

(imo) if they open at all it will just be a "technical" opening. Meaning that they will continue to make it very unpleasant for travelers who want to travel. As of right now, not enough damage has been done. They want their "reset". I think we're at least another year+ away from seeing tourists being able to return.

Ha yes you are of course absolutely right and KEY money was what I meant to type and was what I was thinking of. Thailand's TEA money just automatically came out of my fingers as I typed it seems it being the more common form of "payment" we hear about ! :)

Re: A video tour of Pattaya take today after the latest lockdown......
How about a video made at night?? see exactly what it is..
Re: A video tour of Pattaya take today after the latest lockdown......
Here's an early evening video ( with the place getting dark about half way through the video) as made by that same walking guy ( so watching it speeded up might be a good idea until you reach the areas that interest you - jumping to around 28.00 or 39.00 mins takes you to the tukcom area.
Good to see Salt and Pepper cafe opposite Mosaic still open and trading ( at to 30.00mins) - and even his yappy wee dog still there and in fine yapping voice too still it seems :-)
At least it's showing the place isn't totally closed up - although as to whether or not thats a good thing or not Im not sure.
For clarity and to save people wasting time this is the same video I'd posted on another thread and I added it here re the "we need an evening video" so if you've already watched it feel free to skip on past.

I am surprised to see tourists. I see a lot of younger farang in this evening video. So not just pensioners what I had expected. I guess they went for the two week quarantaine option. But why? It looks pretty dead.

When I was in Pattaya about 3 weeks ago there were many younger people present and I don't think they were tourists. Just people stranded there one reason or another. Some were quite young in their late teens.
Re: A video tour of Pattaya take today after the latest lockdown......
Stranded there? You can still book a plane to fly to your home country. Maybe you need to be in quarantaine, but it is possible to fly back. I don’t believe in people being stranded. And if they are stranded their job doesn’t miss them? How they get income ?
Re: A video tour of Pattaya take today after the latest lockdown......
omg...that evening walk was awful...like a secene out of the walking dead ...or zombie acopalypse...only street lights on...no people...id be rather scared to even wander around alone..

There are many foreigners in Thailand that are not there on long term visas/extensions and, due to Covid, extend their stay on a short time basis. Perhaps they are diplomats or family of diplomats, or have money and don't wish to leave or have a job of sorts or have family there. However they don't appear to be tourists who have recently quarantined and are on a short time stay.

You got that right.
I visited Hungry Hippo on Soi Boi Khao right before the lockdown and was amazed at many young farang there were walking around the area. They were too young to be expats on extensions, so I assumed they were here on extended tourists visa's as you mentioned.
I spotted a young (early twenties) blond-haired - blue-eyed farang who was an absolute doll (Russian?) who I would have loved to share a coffee with - but he was sitting with a fat hooker with smeared eye shadow who looked like she was still drunk from the night before. I felt like slapping her in the face with my pancakes.

You know what I think: classes are online now. Many young people just go to Thailand and follow their university classes online. Their monthly allowance from their parents gives much more purchasing power in Thailand. Maybe in the future if all classes are always online our universities will empty out and all our young people go to countries like Thailand. Only return for exams to their own countries. I wish I was young now. So much better.

If I would have had the opportunity to party my ass off in Thailand while taking school on-line, I probably wouldn't have dropped out of grammar school.

Here in the UK, I know of some overseas students who are studying in Scottish Universities who have relocated down to England, as that's where their friends are studying. However, these are the Masters & PhD students. The undergraduate terms should have finished now.

Not necessarily. Here in Cambodia are a lot of young (average age 30?) people who are here on some kind of business / job / digital nomad, and have been here since before Covid. I have met dozens of young and only few old Foreigners (mostly White) in Cambodia.
