Today's Bangkok MRT trivia question
I'm wondering if any other poster is able to answer the following question:
At which Bangkok MRT station(s) and between which levels is there a prerecorded apology "Sorry to keep you waiting" made in the lift? The supplementary question is: In which direction of travel is the announcement made? Up, down or both?
-
Re: Today's Bangkok MRT trivia question
Hmm, I have used the MRT extensively, but never any elevators. My guess is Silom, because of the huge height difference between both platforms and the ticketing area.

Well, the difference between each of the the platforms and the ticketing area at Silom is replicated at Lumphini and Sam Yan (closest MRT to Soi Twilight). I can't speak for Hua Lampong; I think thereafter, at least as far as Sukhumvit or Phetchaburi, which is as far as I go, both directions are on the same level
-
Re: Today's Bangkok MRT trivia question
ALL the other stations including Hua Lamphong and Bang Sue have both platforms on the same level.
Have used the MRT quite often, and have certainly passed through all the stations, and used quite a few to embark or disembark. Most often Sukumvit because it's close to my place, but also stations like Lumphini, Silom, Hualamphong, Bang Sue, Chatuchak Park, Lat Phrao, Huai Kwang, Rama IX and Phetburi.
Sam Yam I have never used since the only thing of interest there (Wat Hualamphong) can be easily reached from silom.

As the announcement is in the lift, while that's interesting it doesn't help answer the question
-
Re: Today's Bangkok MRT trivia question
C'mon guys I'm offering a very valuable prize here for the first correct answer
-
Re: Today's Bangkok MRT trivia question
I usually take the escalator, sometimes even the stairs. Might try the lift next time, and pay attention if there is any announcement.
-
Re: Today's Bangkok MRT trivia question
The prize, Christian, is 5 hours with a447 wherein he will share his intimate knowledge of Bangkok. Mind you, I'm not sure how you'll be spending the remaining 4 hours, 59 minutes and 55 seconds
-
Re: Today's Bangkok MRT trivia question
Ah, yet another quality post from silly little frequent.
-
Re: Today's Bangkok MRT trivia question
The answer is - Silom MRT when you take the lift between the station concourse and the overhead walkway to Saladaeng BTS. On the way up - no apology. On the way down (but I think only if you call the lift up from the concourse) - apology. I thought it an easy-peasy question (except for your average sex tourist, and even then they're the mass-transit stations most likely), but apparently not
-
Re: Today's Bangkok MRT trivia question
Did it ever occur to you that not everyone takes elevators ? I understand for old people such an elevator is convenient and sometimes even necessary.
-
Re: Today's Bangkok MRT trivia question
Justaguy: You haven't been here very long so I'll forgive you missing the blatantly obvious. The MRT quiz is not a real quiz. Its posted by Freaky and directed at a447. So there's little point complaining about the questions.
-
Re: Today's Bangkok MRT trivia question
I know I know, couldn't resist posting.

You are partly correct.
The other aim is to try to prove his assertion that he's been living in Thailand for decades. (He recently flooded the board with posts aimed at achieving that outcome.)

Unfortunately for him, I have a long, long memory and have already produced one of his posts in which he tells us he is visiting Thailand.
Here's the post where he tells us he living in Britain.

I couldn't give a shit where he's living; I'm just pointing out the fact that he's lying.
This is exactly the type of useless, inane, childish thread that devalues the board.
And to think, Surfcrest prefers this type of shit to the intelligent and informative posts of a member who has since left this board in disgust. He considers frequent's posts and constant negativity to be of more value to the board and it's members.
Surfcrest's decision to favour this worthless and talentless little hypocrite, who is so full of his own perceived self-importance, has done enormous damage the board.
You want to see how much? Take a look at gaythailand.com and count the number of new members. Ask yourselves why they didn't join here.

Which you have turned so many decent threads into lately, in your sad and desparate attempts to prove that the forum would have been better off with you, when all you demonstrate is that the board is better off without you. If you can no longer post anything of benefit to the board, and all you do is insult the moderator and owner and the other posters, especially calling new posters trolls, perhaps you should live up to your word and leave, for good.
If you won't jump as promised, perhaps you should be pushed.

Re: Today's Bangkok MRT trivia question
For some reason Freaky just gets up almost everyone's nose. Bobsaigon has gone, Fountainhall hasn't posted for ages and a447 has taken his pornographic posts elsewhere and now only comes back to goad and poke Freaky who pretends he doesn't care but actually does which is why he's doing his MRT stuff. That's three worthwhile and productive members of the board. But hey, we still have Freaky. Lucky us.
-
Re: Today's Bangkok MRT trivia question
So here you are again, right on cue, chasing me from forum to forum, thread to thread. Mmm...very odd behaviour all of a sudden. How come you didn't do this during the 11 or so years I was posting regularly?
And also chasing Surfcrest around, high -fiving him, "liking" his every post and generally licking his arse. Nobody likes a brown-noser, Brad. It's not a good look.
Or is somebody putting words into your mouth? (Mmm....who could that be, I wonder!) It looks as though you and Surfcrest are all of a sudden joined at the hip:
- same starting date for re-appearing regularly on the board,
- same method of attack,
-same accusations,
-same choice of words,
-same posting style,
-same positive attitude to frequent,
-same sudden interest in my posts.....
Fucking uncanny, eh?
As usual, your lack of comprehension skills is on display. (Or as has been suggested to me, are you just plain dumb?)
Was one of the "decent threads" this one, by any chance?
Is this thread "of benefit to the board"?
What was the purpose of this thread, in your opinion?
If you can't answer, then you need to raise your standards.
I never said
Quote:
the forum would have been better
with me - I was referring to fountainhall, you idiot! For Christ's sake, I gave enough hints and you still didn't get it.
And who exactly did I call a "troll"?
And where did I promise to "jump "?
If you can no longer post anything of benefit to the board, and all you do is insult another poster, perhaps you should leave, for good.
If you won't jump, perhaps you should be pushed.
Lol

Re: Today's Bangkok MRT trivia question
Bob and I were just normal members (sorry, Bob!) but fountainhall was in a class of his own. He's the type of poster who any board owner would kill for - civil, knowledgeable, willing to spend a great deal of time putting his travelogues together (complete with professional grade photos), able to comment intelligently on a variety of subjects, always willing to offer information when asked to do so by other members, incredibly helpful....I could go on.
I've never met the guy but have an enormous amount of respect for him.
I'm angry that a poster of such calibre should be cast aside whilst low-grade posters like Brad, Latin frequent and Matt club together and turn this board into their own playground.
Some will no doubt recall what happened when Neal did the same thing.

Not quite a447. Surfcrest called him a cunt.
-
Re: Today's Bangkok MRT trivia question
Sadly for little twerps like a447 and pompous self-important people like fountainhall, however many times Surfcrest reminds everyone that all he's doing is providing somewhere for everyone to post without making any judgment calls on the value of what is posted, they still think it's All About Them
Do I post relevant and accurate autobiographical information? Are you mad? Why would anyone living in Thailand do so? Mastering the art of disinformation is one of the important survival skills of living in an authoritarian, jingoistic country
If I'm writing something "autobiographical" it's merely as a peg on which to hang an anecdote or make a point. Was I, for example, at Mrs Balbirs the other week on the day I said I was there for the meal I said I was having and with a single companion? Would my "review" be any less informative if any, all or none of those incidentals were accurate?
However I'm perfectly happy to taunt plonkers like a447 who concentrate on the noise and think it more valuable than the signal (Nate Silver's book if you want to look it up)
-
Re: Today's Bangkok MRT trivia question
But as you have already admitted - twice - you don't live in Thailand.
What don't you understand about your own posts??
Lol
As for "pompous self-important people" that's a bit rich, coming from you!
Who else on the board has called himself 'a comic genius"?
Who else on the board uses one of his many handles to alert us to his self-important post on another thread?
Who else on the board constantly reminds us of his superior intellect? (Lol)
Who else on the board drags a pedestal behind him?
And you call somebody else "pompous and 'self-important"?
Yeah, right!
-
Re: Today's Bangkok MRT trivia question
Evidently the notion of separating the signal from the noise is beyond our resident Perry Mason
-
Re: Today's Bangkok MRT trivia question
I hear Perry Mason never lost a case.
Ok, your turn, Brad.
Or have you jumped?
Lol

Re: Today's Bangkok MRT trivia question
Latin, I don't prove you "haven't been there" - I just point to your own posts which prove that.
Just like I point to frequent's earlier posts which prove he hasn't been living in Thailand for decades.
And what's this? Brad channelling King Henry II?
"Will no one rid me of this turbulent priest?"
Mmm...that doesn't sound like something coming out of Brad's mouth. He's too dumb. Lol
Oh, and allow me to throw one of your own quotes back at you, frequent :

Re: Today's Bangkok MRT trivia question
For those of you who wonder about a447, an answer is clearly set out here: https://arstechnica.com/science/2016...heyre-awesome/
However there is an alternative explanation, one already given by a447 himself. In another thread he asserts that I "must" be the same person as someone else based on the facts that (1) we reference each other, and (2) we do so within minutes of the other posting. Have a look at the timeline of a447's posts and mine in this thread. Yes, a447 and I are one and the same person. Spooky or what?

Be nice for what? He's the biggest bully on this forum. Constantly running around throwing public tirades, berating other members, and accusing them of ruining the board. Quite obviously, he hasn't looked in the mirror yet.
For a while there I could barely make a post on this board, because everytime I made a typo he's throw his arms in the air, and start babbling like a retarded chimp on LSD.

Ah, but who's the orca and who's the seal. Because he's got you jumping through hoops trying to prove you live in Bangkok while desperately trying to show that you don't care. What's today's MRT question? So exciting.

And isn't it absolutely amazing that virtually from the day I stopped posting here back in March, your typos suddenly disappeared! What a coincidence! Ridiculous post after ridiculous post, all perfectly typed up. Gosh, you're a fast learner, Matt.
I hope that after you have totally lost your hearing - when is that drama coming? - that you'll be able to figure out a way to continue posting here, even though you won't be able to....what was it?..... oh, that's right, you won't be able to hear the letters spelt out as you type.
But knowing you matt, you'll find a way! That's just the kind of clever guy you are!
Soon I expect you'll be telling us how you take the car out for a spin.
Lol
And poor old frequent! All he's got left in the ammunition box is his "trip report". But he'll be firing a blank.
You are so dumb! Can't you see that it doesn't matter any more? First, you've been shown to be a liar; secondly, I don't post here anymore, except to annoy you; thirdly, there are no newbies here who could possibly be fooled; and fourthly, you are posting to the exact same audience as before. They've all heard it.
So go ahead, you sad little old man. But this time, try a bit of humour. If that's too hard, consult with Brad (if you haven't already) as he'll help you out. He's a laugh a minute ; a real comedian. And remember, if all else fails, you've still got the other two clowns to fall back on.
And whatever you do, make sure you get matt to type it up for you!
Lol

Go look through my recent post history, and I've made loads of typos. I just can't be fucked to correct them, because editing a post is a pain in the ass for me. But yes, I've been getting better at typing with time, thanks.

Blind as a bat. Well, I guess I have about 6% visibility, but for the most part, I'm in the dark. For example, I can make out there's a counter there, but I can't see what's on the counter. Or I can generally make out parked cars and motorcycles, but I need to keep it in the forefront of my mind, and can't daydream while walking down a street. Things like that.
Seriously though, are you really going to go there? You already insuinated my BF is a low-life thief, with absolutely no clue who he is. Now you're going to call me a liar for going blind as well?
Whatever, says more about you than it does me...

Re: Today's Bangkok MRT trivia question
Did none of you guys ever learn to type with 10 fingers blindly ? It's pretty easy to do, no need to have my eyes on the keyboard at all...
-
Re: Today's Bangkok MRT trivia question
I think I can confidently answer that, Nirish.
He has connected his computer to those huge "Isaan size speakers" he told us he owns and can now hear the sounds more clearly as he types.
So we can be assured he won't be typing anything like this again:
"morrre "
or this:
"Qw'll aww qhT Gppwna I fuwaa".
Thank god! It took me ages to work out what he was trying to say. Lol
And he forgot to tell us what he heard as he was typing these "words".
Justaguy, he never told us that was his method of typing since going "blind". In retrospect, I bet he wishes he had.

That's what I thought too at first, and I'm coming from 16 years of experience in the software industry, so if anyone should know how to type blindly, it's me.
Give it a try though. Close your eyes, don't open them, and bang out a couple paragraphs of text. I bet you don't type blindly as well as you think you do.

You remind me of that one pigeon who keeps flying into the house, trying to steal any sticky rice Leo may have left out on the counter. Keep batting him away, and he just keeps coming back.
Keep going, big guy. Again, your words speak more about you than they do me.
