The board is looking for a native English speaking moderator and peak rainy season will hit Pattaya in about 4 weeks. After today's postings I can see two storms on the horizon. Both have thunder and lightening.

Why not volunteer then?
I would, but busy with work, plus have no real interest in babysitting a bunch of 70 year olds.

How long have you got? Besides, I think the decision may have already been taken.
I think that had Matt been available Moses should definitely have seized the chance of having the world's first blind moderator of a gay message board.
That would have been really something - old Gaybutton would have been spitting tacks at our scoop.
Next we'll be recruiting some dudes who can't get a stiffy to appear in SGT porno flicks - candidates can apply herewith (in total confidence).
:D
In my humble opinion, arsenal would be eminently suited for the post of moderator. He is a frequent visitor to Thailand, a clear and coherent writer who is clued in on world affairs, witty, self-deprecating and most importantly, has the backbone to withstand the whinings and wailings and feet-stompings of infantile members when they can't have their way on the board. The intellectually bereft who are ill-equipped to debate and banter and who instead demand bannings and censorship of those who challenge them.
Arsenal also possesses the objectivity and general lack of ego that is needed to resist any attempt at buttering up (including this one!).
Other possible candidates - again IMHO - would be Oliver and Alexx, who posts on GT.
Fluency in English should be but only one of the criteria for selecting a moderator. Objectivity, neutrality, intellectual independence, a calm temperament and a strong understanding of Thai culture, society and laws should also be some of the other factors to be considered.
agreed. It's like Arsenal got ahold of his login info. Hehehehe. Totally joking!
Not in a million years although all the reasons SGlad mentioned are, of course absolutely correct.
Omega, you've been here for all of one month and 27 posts now so obviously your opinion carries considerable weight around here.
I'm expecting an announcement imminently (I am Lord Varys) and if I'm correct then many here will want to find somewhere else to reside.
1 month is plenty of time to work out who the bitter old queens are :)
And 5 of them are the same person
:D
Omega and sgdad both very prolific indeed.
And posting within a minute or each other.
And both still up and about at 4 in the morning.
Guess things must be slow at university.
Omega thrilled us all by writing.

With posts of that quality it can only be a question of time before Moses can charge good money to be a member here.
I'm already started... but not on direct way... something like: when somebody will post personal attack - I will move this post to boiler room (not visible to visitors and robots), and for to answer to this post user will pay $1/day... posts with answers posted to another places will be deleted - that way it will be not censorship - "nothing personal just a business" :)))
don't take this post as a announcement of new era... it is mostly kidding
Another idea might be to have a sliding scale of payment charges. The most popular posters such as myself (obviously) and..............?............, and.............?..............will be charged for at a considerably higher rate than say Minimee or Freakybum who could be packaged together in an 'economy' bundle.
It seems obvious that Moses either failed to carry out due diligence on the nature of this Forum, or like the foolish virgin who believes she can reform her raffish husband once they are married by the force of her personality, he believes moral suasion is enough
It seems that, like Neal, we now have an owner whose forum involvement is to bolster his commercial interests, and who is proposing moderators who, similarly, will have a commercial interest in the success of the Forum and presumably will moderate accordingly. That's the alternative model to the more usual one for this Forum of Bob and then Surfcrest charitably providing a place for a bunch of old sodomites to vent about Thailand
frequeent, good try, but next time you should try better...
Good luck with making this forum a success, Moses.
You're going to need it with this bunch of bitter, paranoid old queens.
As Admin, you can see that I am indeed a unique user; and I hope you'll understand that I just don't have the patience to deal with the hostility of some of your users.
I'm not saying I won't be back, but I just don't think there's much of worth here.

Exactly. So why then, were you always posting pieces you know are trouble? Using the last guy to attack the new one! I gotto agree with Moses. You will have to do better than that. You can't even throw shit successfully, it always blows straight back in your face.
arsenal has recently announced a prolonged absence, so I think we can safely assume that The Queen has overlooked his continuing acts of LM and has ensured he is invited. I believe he'll be attending after the funeral of the Prince Consort of Denmark, given his love of all things royal. And just before we get another post from scotty about Prince Harry being the offspring of some bounder with red hair, note the similarity in hair colouring from this famous photo
Attachment 6634
The red-headed chap in the middle is Earl Spencer, Diana's brother
It's the dissimilarity to his 'official' father's hair you should be more interested in. He's a cuckoo in the nest and that's all there is to it.
Just watch him on public engagements - he's more nervous about leaving his DNA on a glass than Hannibal Lecter
