Yep, I agree.
I am confident I could defend myself in most situations, but would still be reluctant to take on a young guy.
A knife or a machete brings something new into the equation and my reflexes may not be quick enough these days. I wouldn't risk it.
But take away the knife and I'd probably be ok - that is, until the police come knocking on the door to charge me with assault. No matter who is at fault in Thailand, the farang hasn't got a chance.
So I'd forgo any altercation, put it down to experience and just move on.
As paborn says, it's not worth it.
On the surface, Dusseldorf sounds attractive but I'm rather wary of guys from Eastern Europe.

In the past we might have felt that a bit of a shove and maybe a punch or two was called for or acceptable but nowadays that same shove alone could have a typical 20 something pull a knife on you, stabbing you somewhere fatal and leaving you lying on the floor mortally wondered, wondering what happened as you slowly bleed to death as you debate should you call an ambulance and all that just from pushing the wrong guy ! :-(
Unfortunately it's a sad fact of life these days and one that we all perhaps need to remember and be aware of a little more of than in the past perhaps - the world is ever changing and not always for the better it seems :-(
Everything you quoted is completely correct.
I strongly advise our fellow members and guests to be very careful if/when confronting anyone. The young people today are very confrontational these days.
It's just not worth the hassle or bother. Just give them the agreed amount. And call it a lucky day. You could always tell others after "That lad is rubbish".
Just put it down to experience and just move on!
You won't be going with him again, so it's his lost. And others will soon learn about the young man in question. So in the end he will loose out.
Re: Dusseldorf - June 2018
Getting back on topic, a quick perusal of the Dusseldorf Escorts section on Planet Romeo, Hunqz or whatever they call it, shows relatively few on offer there & more about 30 miles down the road, in Cologne as far as I can tell.
Re: Dusseldorf - June 2018
One could of course always just go somewhere and hook up with a local or two, surely doesn't always need to be an escort ( unless that's all part of the kick I guess ?) as from memory Grindr etc in Dusseldorf and Cologne was quite busy and there were actually several cute asian guys on there too from what I recall ( getting a piece of action whilst their boyfriend was out at work from what I recall from one conversation I had - that's what I like to see, good time management skills being put to effect use ! :-)

Correct, although Asian guys about 30 years younger than me rarely want to meet up without compensation.
There have been some wonderful exceptions.
Re: Dusseldorf - June 2018
or the apps/sites: hunqz (formerly planet/gayromeo-rescorts) and in german: spritzjungs.de
Phoenix is a local german chain of gay sauna's in that area-also in Köln and Essen.
Actually Köln (cologne for british and unknown with other names) is said to have even more as Berlin gay capital of germany and is about 30/40 mins away by frequent local train (not that cheap, as its in another traffic-area). if you have a little more time and not yet booked, consider combining the 2 and fly in to 1 and out of 2). Both have many cheap budget flights-eurowings/germanwings or flybe, avoid RYAN at all cost-it does not fly into DUS but a former RAF base some 90 kms away (weeze/niederrhein-in fact only 3/4 kms from dutch border).
Re: Dusseldorf - June 2018
I am off to Dusseldorf again on Friday, but just for one night. The last visit was midweek, and I'm told Friday/Saturday nights are much better and busier?
The last trip was ok, but it was during Ramadan, and most of the guys were away. Plus two other gay venues were closed as they only open during the weekends.
Full report again, once I'm back.

Re: Dusseldorf - June 2018
I went to Düsseldorf back in the summer.
The 2 rent bars were right next to each other. 3 Romanians, only one of whom just about looked cute enough for me. However, he was a top, same as the other two. Wouldn't kiss, suck or bottom, so nothing of interest for me there. I suppose some people might pay for that, but not me.
The sauna was fairly quiet.
I hooked up with a Filipino on an app and he was very good. He works as a nurse, however in one of the neighbouring towns, so your chances of finding him may not be so high.
I stayed in the IBIS at the station. This is very good value & quiet.
I would say Cologne is a better bet. OK, as far as I know there are no rent bars surviving, however the general gay scene is larger, there are more lads on line & the sauna is better. Some of the gay bars are very good fun.

I am back from Dusseldorf. Went Friday morning till Saturday evening.
I took an Ryanair flight from Stansted Airport departing at 07:35, and arriving Weeze Airport (1 hour, 10 mins/68.1 km away From Dusseldorf City Centre) at 09:50. Took the local bus from the airport to Weeze HB station, from there took the train to Kempen, then change trains to one all the way to Dusseldorf HB station.
Checked-in to the City Hotel Dusseldorf, which was right next door to the two rent bars. Check-in was 15:00, but I arrived at the hotel at 14:00 after having lunch, but they let me check-in anyway.
I then went for a walk down by the river and then to the Germany Brewery called "Brewery Schumacher". Excellent beer and very cheap. Plus I had a roast pork meal with potatoes and a salad bowl.
About 6pm, after my three beers and meal costing €23, I made my way to the rent bar called "Comeback". This is the biggest and best bar out of the two, rent bars, which are both next door to each other. I walked in and there were about 13 punters and 15 guys. Most were sitting with a punter and one or two by the slot machines.
The good looking ones seem to be all taken, as they were sitting, chatting and drinking with their prospective clients. I sat on a stool by the bar having a nice candy look. Then one of the guys I was chatting to on my previous visit back in June (feel free to read my report) came up to me and started chatting and offer to go with me. Realising the other guys were occupied, I opted to go with this guy I was chatting to and we left for my hotel next door. The night staff did not say a word to us as we went in the lift. My single room was on the 5th floor and was very comfortable.
Well I was very surprised by my companion. He was excellent. He kissed very passionately, suck ok and we fucked. The rest you can imagine! Wink wink!
This cost €50 and after we finished, we cleaned up and made our way back downstairs to the bar. I offered him a drink, and he politely asked for a sprite.
All those other younger guys were still occupied, so I just sat there admiring the talent around me. Majority of the guys were from Macidona, some Romania and some from Bulgaria and one from somewhere else, can't remember the Country.
After a couple of beers, I made my way to the other gay bars in the area. I visited two, which were ok, then went to Queens Bar/Club across the road from Comeback bar. By this time, a few of the MB's who were in Comeback bar were at Queens when I walked in. But none of those cuteties that were occupied were there. (Not that I was horny) Guessing they went with they clients. I left Queens bar/club about 4am and back to my hotel to sleep, after a kabab.
Next day I had a few hours to kill before my flight back to the UK. So after checking-out of my hotel at 12 noon, I made my way to the river again, walked about, had lunch and made my way to the airport.
Overall my trip was pleasant, had fun, and hotel was nice. Hotel was £60 for one night. The Ibis right next door to the main station was about £50 and a much better deal, but I had booked the City Hotel Dusseldorf already. Pays to shop around first. But hey, I was happy with my hotel I stayed in. I deliberately choosed that hotel as it was next door to the rent bars.
Flight £18
Hotel £60
Dusseldo Train & bus €15.30 each way
Train in London to Stansted £25 return
MB €50
I hear Hamburg may be good. So will give that a try. I've been to Berlin and Barcelona few times, but guess they are due anther visit sometime soon.
