Yes:4. And 934 confirmed infection cases according to https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/map.html
I think Thailand is taking this action as they want to close the stable door before the horses bolt. Taking learning from other countries’ experience.
India is acting similarly; they have closed their borders too and put the entire population of 1.2bn on lock-down.
Would you advocate taking a more relaxed approach? Like USA maybe? It was only 10 days ago that Trump believed USA did not have to prepare themselves. Now they have over 1,000 deaths and over 10,000 confirmed infection cases…in the last 24 hours alone. 65,778 total.
Latest: Putin will close airports for international flights from tomorrow….

Re: Coronavirus - Thailand
Today, for the first time in three days, I went to the local supermarket here in the UK.
It was also the first time I had been out since HM Government advised us to maintain a 2m gap between other people. Under normal circumstances I would have just walked in to the supermarket, but never before in the UK have I seen people queuing to enter a supermarket. The security staff adopted a one in, one out policy.
And I don’t recall a time when any shelves were empty, specifically - toilet rolls, liquid soap, shampoo, shower gel and some tinned goods were either not in stock or in short supply. I did however manage to obtain nearly everything I intended to buy. As mentioned in a previous post; it is my normal practice to stock up on loo rolls, liquid soap, shower gel and cleaning products, so just as well I wasn't looking to buy any of those products as I would have been disappointed.
Below I have attached two photos I took as I stood waiting to enter the supermarket. The horrible weather added to the feeling of doom and gloom:

Now, just to lighten the mood, I attach below two items sent to me by an American friend:

Re: Coronavirus - Thailand
Yeah, it's the same here in Canada. The whole world is in lockdown mode at the moment.
I'm volunteering for the local taxi company right now, and getting them a proper online orderling / delivery system in place for day-to-day shopping like you mentioned. Register, get a virtual bank account / credit line with them, which you can top up with money as you desire online. Then go ahead, manage your address(es), place and track your orders. Upon submitting an order, you can submit special instructions (eg. leave the items outside by the garage door), the funds get deducted from your account, and the items ordered just magically appear outside your house a few hours after placing the order.
It actually took some effort to convince the taxi company to let me work for them for free, but managed it. In about a week, my community will have a new online delivery system in place, same as South Korea did.
Oh, and the Laos government pisses me off. I almost lost a good friend due to them and their propoganda, saying all foreigners are filthy and are bringing the virus, etc. Granted, it's understandable considering Laos got bombed back into the stone age during the Vietnam War, but still, don't do that...
Re: Coronavirus - Thailand
To my mind the American war, which some people call the Vietnam war, hasn't stopped: "Since 1964, more than 50,000 Lao have been killed or injured by U.S. bombs, 98 percent of them civilians. An estimated 30 percent of the bombs dropped on Laos failed to explode upon impact, and in the years since the bombing ended, 20,000 people have been killed or maimed by the estimated 80 million bombs left behind." https://www.history.com/news/laos-mo...ry-vietnam-war
