Straight, gay or anything in bewteen. If I get the feeling that they dislike what they are doing, it's pretty much over for me. That makes Thai prostitutes so special. They can give you "the boyfriend" experience. You just have to make sure you don't buy into the illusion.

Re: Available boys in Pattaya..
Some straight boys refuse to smoke. I have said to them that if they won't smoke me then I won't off them. Many (most eventually) then agree. My experience is that having agreed to do it they do so to the best of their ability.
And if you provide a pleasant experience of them spending time with you then within the context of a straight boy having sex with a man there's no reason they won't get some pleasure out of the encounter.
A builder probably doesn't want to spend all day outside in the rain laying bricks but if the house owner gives him a cup of tea and says the job was great then he's going to feel happy.

I see things from an entirely different perspective.
If I were a young sexy guy, the last person I would want to have sex with is the person I see in the mirror every morning. But when they are in bed with me they don't "see" me.
Although the guys are physically having sex with me, in their mind they are fantasising about having sex with a hot young guy - or girl, in most cases. That's why they can go through with it, starting with getting it up and finishing with a cumshot. And that's why they can gain pleasure - both during the act and cumming at the end.
The one exception is my regular Bangkok guy. He simply enjoys sex and I don't think it matters to him who his partner is. A session with him goes on forever - or at least until I have to tell him I've had enough. And what does he do? He doesn't quickly pull out and think "Thank God that's over!" He begs for more!
"Just five more minutes, ok? Please!"
And when the time is up, he begs for even more time.
He also enjoys trying out all kinds of weird sex positions; hardly something you'd do if you just wanted to get the whole affair over and done with as quickly as possible.
So in rare cases, some guys actually do enjoy their job.
My Pattaya friend is not as enthusiastic but nevertheless, he's a fantastic top and really enjoys the chuck-wowed at the end.

Well, I am attracted to the same sex so I want my partners to look like the same sex; i.e. masculine. If I wanted someone who looked feminine I'd go a girlie bar. I certainly do not have any desire for some kind of "revenge." Heaven forbid! I'm not quite sure what you are getting at.

to reveal the bisexuality that most men have to some extent
Sorry, but I have to disagree. I do not believe for a second that "most" men are bisexual. Certainly amongst my many straight friends the idea of having sex with another male is anathema. Although they totally accept what I do they have never been able to understand how I would even touch another guy's cock, let alone put it in my mouth. It still fascinates them today.
Horses for courses.

Re: Available boys in Pattaya..
"I do not believe for a second that "most" men are bisexual"
My reason for believing that most men are bisexual to a degree, but not necessarily to the extent of having physical contact or anything they would admit to; stems from the most popular genre choices when it comes to porn. Whilst there is a strong demand for solo female or lesbian material, demand for heterosexual sex scenes is much greater. Not only that, but the studios that closely monitor reaction to their catalogue find that the more dick there is in a video the more views it gets. OK, some gays watch hetero porn as do an increasing number of women, but it's still mainly a 'straight' man's thing - straight men who get off looking at other guy's dicks - even though it may be subconscious. The presence of women in a scene is necessary to distract them from the reality that they are actually getting off looking at men.

Re: Available boys in Pattaya..
...i went to a boys only school....had varying degrees of sex with evryone in my class....as we got older like 16...and access to alcohol it became a lot easier...I've done both male and female and weird stuff in between....finslly figured out that masculine bottom males was my thing...straight(ish) guys will do gay4pay...or for drugs....so guess its all depends on circumstances...bit like jail sex

I don't either. I believe all men (and women) are "Allsexual".
I have never agreed with the classifications, e.g., gay, str8, bi, trans, etc., rather see human sexuality as being just as unique as the leaves on a tree - where no two are identical and they can (and do) change with each passing wind.
When I first informed my family that I had a male partner in Thailand, their immidiate assumption was that I was "gay". When asked about this directly, I explained that "I am who I am". My preference for having sexual relations with females when I was younger didn't make me str8, nor did it render me as a person in denial either, it was simply my desire (who I was) at the time.
I have always naturally gravited towards "the middle". The girls I dated when I was young always leaned towards Tomboy - with small breasts, boyish looks, and wore little or no makeup. The guys I prefer (sexually) now have the same physical characteristics/personas, and I have no attraction whatsoever to the masculine types with muscles, hairy chests, and mustaches.
Since being in Thailand, 98% of my sexual interactions have been with 100% gay pretty-boys, although I've also had interactions with a few girls and even a Tom once, which felt perfectly natural to me. I have absolutely no resevations about being this way...understand fully why others are different...and never classify anyone else - regardless of how they classify themselves - because I know this can all change. It's all up to the way the wind is blowing...life experiences...environmental determinisms...and the shifting of all those microorganisms in our internal universes (genetics) which is well beyond my comprehension.
IMHO - Labels are for stationary (static) objects, not human beings, who are dynamic and constantly change - as all things do in nature.

dodger...wonder how long did u date females...lots of gay/bisex guys will date girls when young in an effort to conform....some even marry...as a young giy I went through a crazy stage where i did everything in sight...but quickly settled on my prefernce

I dated girls during most of my youth...married once (to a female)...was sexually attracted to guys very early on (age 12)...sex with the type of girls described in my post kept me partially satisfied...constant sexual fantasies involving guys...fantasies became reality in Thailand...never looked back.
My transition over time (remember I'm only a leaf):
Str8 sex - females only
Bi sex - females and males
Gay sex - Dominant (dedicated top)
Gay sex - Submissive (bottom)
I am who I am: (unclassified) - Uninhibited & Versatile depending on which way the wind is blowing.
Some people seem to struggle with the "Sexual Classifications" of Thai boys (working or non-working), which, to me, seems like a fruitless effort. I've enjoyed great sex with boys who considered themselves to be str8, leaving me wondering just what part of the "transition" this leaf is in. When we met in the bar he said "no boom-boom, me man", but after a few interactions together he volunterrily spreads his legs and smiles the same way the gay boys do when being mounted. Is he str8?
Conversely, I've seen boys who classified themselves as "str8 or Bi" leave the working circuit after sleeping with men for years, only to marry a Thai girl and start raising a family. There's that wind blowing again.
Regarding the availability of Thai Boys:
The Boys who are available in Thailand now are no different than the Boys who were available before this pandemic hit. They are biding their time the same way we are, but they're still here. A dedicated top gay boy, who, after life goes on, gravitates naturally to the "bottom role" as his feminie genes start looking for attention. Or the dedicated str8 boy who lays in bed at night wondering what it would be like to touch another guys cock - or have his cock sucked by a man. Or the boy who has no idea what his sexual identity is yet, who comes to a place like Pattaya and experiences the very same thing that we all did - and gravitates to his own place. His own desires at that place and time in his life. All these leafs, with no two the same.
-
Re: Available boys in Pattaya..
I followed a similar path to that of Dodger.
Classical Athens got it right, in many, though not all aspects of sex. The concept of sexuality didn't exist; only sex.
When I was sixteen, a well-used and tatty copy of Mary Renault's "The Last of the Wine" was passed around my class at an all boys' school. The story of a loving relationship between an Athenian citizen in his twenties and a boy on the cusp of manhood seemed to interest more of us than should be expected when our salacious conversation concerned only girls in a nearby school.
-
Re: Available boys in Pattaya..
This pandemic may have changed a lot of things, but I don't think it changed Thai culture, or the necessity for the Thais to start making money again once the country is vaccinated.
Contrary to what some seem to believe, I think the availability of Thai boys serving the industry we love so much will flourish again once the dust settles and things start moving again. According to friends who use the "apps", they are bursting at the seams with boys right now, and with the economy being set back to the 1960's, there's no reason that I can see why working boys (and girls) won't be migrating back to where the action is to start fee-earning again.
I can't imagine things ever getting back to what they were in the past, but I also don't see anywhere else on the world having a larger availability of "boys" than Thailand.

I totally disagree with Dodger’s sentiments, as Thailand as a gay destination slowly began to shrink way before Covid.
I originally thought Covid would be gone and Thailand would return to some degree of normality however, I thought this would occur by this time next year but judging what I see here in Thailand and the new emergence of the virus worldwide I now believe it will take a few years during which time the toll on the gay venues will be devastating begging the question what will be left here to return to?

I currently agree with Dodger's assessment that there will not be a destination with better availability of boys than Thailand.
To say Thailand will be unsuitable to visit as a gay destination and disagree with Dodger, you really need to propose credible alternatives.
Most of us are not all going to stay at home for the next 30 years moaning that Thailand is not as good as the old days.
We're going to pick the best option and go there.
So where do you suggest we go instead ? And when will you go there ?
Saying Thailand is unsuitable for us to visit, whilst living there 365 days a year is a tad inconsistent. Look at what people do, as well as what they say.
The last time you raised this topic, places in Latin America were proposed. When I browse the apps in such places, there might be about one cute twinky lad for every 3 pages on Grindr. Now that one lad is probably not renting his ass out. If he is, he may well be some feckless type who won't actually do much to earn his money. So there are so few cute twinks it's probably hard or impossible to find a good one.
Not to mention the chances of getting mugged at night.
I would suggest The Philippines is one of the best alternatives to Thailand for picking up lads. The lads are quite hot, but there isn't really much of a bar scene. Also, I don't think walking around late at night is quite as safe as Thailand.
So I would still choose Thailand ahead of The Philippines.

Re: Available boys in Pattaya..
I just returned home (Bang Saray) from my routine buzz around the bay to Pattaya to meet up with friends for coffee. Evan with Pattaya being in a Total Lockdown situation, with the Beach being closed as well, I crossed paths with several boys who I could have spent time with if I wanted, e.g.:
Beach Boy - who used to work freelance in Sunee.
Bar Boy - Hangs around Jomtien Complex in the wee early morning hours.
Market Boy - Ex Nice Boys dancer who freelances around the Thrapraya Morning Market area.
Massage Boy - Relax Massage (behind Tukcom) boy looking for customer, even with parlor being closed.
Soi Bon Khai Boy - Wandering boy walked up to my motorbike while parked in front of 7/11 and asked me "where you go"?
Five boy sightings in less than 2 hours, and I wasn't even looking for them. Evan in a Total Lockdown, with Pattaya resembling the remnants of a post-apocalyptic city on the edge of ruin, and still there are available boys.
I don't know what that tells you about the "availability of boys" here in the Land of Smiles - but it tells me that if they're available now in limited supply, then they'll be more of them around in the future. No doubt about it!

With the infection rate rising daily spending any time with the "available" boys is currently risky business. The Jomtien Complex before and after the lockdown has had quite a few occupants spending time away for fourteen days in hospital care or in quarantine care facilities. The hospitals are mostly full so some have been told to isolate in their room. I am not sure how they can isolate if they are living in a bar, massage shop or in a room with multiple occupants.
The out of work bar and massage guys hang out at the beach or in groups and sometimes have small parties at night with farangs dropping by for a chat and more if they can get it. Perfect conditions for the Delta variant to easily spread.
The system at the Banglumung Covid testing station as reported by Complex guys who attended last week. If the doctor does not call you back within two or three days after having the test then you are negative. If the doctor calls then you must isolate at home and go back for another test. My friend was negative but he suggested it would cause less stress to receive a message on the Line ASAP after the test saying that he was negative or otherwise instead of waiting for a phone call. The authorities are probably worried that anyone with a positive result will hide somewhere instead of spending two weeks in a facility.

If that’s still the case isn’t it stupid? Why does everyone have to go to a facility? Does any other country make that mandatory?
According to this website https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ no less than 14,000,000 people are currently infected. Just imagine what would happen if they all had to go to a facility or hospital.
These places should be reserved for the seriously ill.

I personally get a great sense of achievement if I can detach an outwardly straight boy from the norms he was brought up with to reveal the bisexuality that most men have to some extent. I also get a great sense of satisfaction if I can make a boy much younger than myself rise to the occasion and shoot his load.
I had sex for money with many gay and straight boys, and there is not much difference in performance. Over time, I got better at predicting if the performance will be good or poor.
"suffering it for the money" does not describe it. I want access to his body, he wants access to my wallet. Win-win! Else he could work some regular job.
Recruiting (not in bars, but those I come across in my daily life and find attractive) straight boys for gay activities is a hard business, and most perform poorly in bed. But every now and then you get one who is curious or bisexual and activities are rewarding.
"rise to the occasion and shoot his load" varies widely from boy to boy, gay or straight, and is no indicator of sexual enjoyment. Some can't get it up, but when I get a straight boy who does it for the money and has no sexual interest in me, but gets hard from a few strokes, that turns me on!

That ought to be a clear enough warning for any farang.
Whilst the boys are young and fit, their risk of dying from covid is probably minimal.
On the other hand, for any elderly farang who are not yet vaccinated, once there are reported cases of covid in Jomtien complex, socializing with the lads would be very risky.
I also think the Thai policy of sending all covid infection cases to a hospital is crazy.
Not only does it tie up such facilities, but if the prospective inmate has the option of being sent to some crappy field hospital or pay for a better hospital (if space exists), I can imagine it will discourage people from getting a test until they are genuinely ill.

You, Dodger and gerefan2 prefer to live in a virtual reality and if that makes you happy and hopefull then that’s great however, I prefer to remain a realist.

Well, I agree that everywhere interesting is f*cked right now, but I still think my next holiday is PROBABLY nearer to 6 months away than 2 years. I cannot be 100% confident. Also, it was only just over 6 months ago that people here were telling me I would be mad if I thought they would let British tourists into Thailand any time soon, when they were already letting British tourists into Thailand. I soon followed.
As for who lives in virtual reality, well you're the one who's been repeatedly telling us how cr*p Thailand is for the last 5 years or so. (Whilst living there)
The rest of us realize that if we're going on holiday on planet earth, we have to pick the best that is available in 2021 & get on with life & enjoy it. That's a very grounded, rational and positive view.
Whilst as far as I can tell, you are inferring that the best alternative would be a time machine to take us back to Boyz Town of circa 1995, since there has been nothing worth going to Thailand for in recent years & no decent alternative ? What kind of reality is that ?

My previous comments were intended to describe the "availability of boys" in town right now - now the "risk factors" that you correctly highlighted. I couldn't agree more about the risk involved with hooking up with boys at this juncture.
Personally, I don't have any physical interations with anyone other than my partner. Not because of covid, but because that's the type of relationship we're in. If I was unattached during this pandemic, I imagine I'd be watching a lot of porno and remain content just talking with the boys (as I do now) standing 3 meters away with a face mask.
I was getting a lot of ribbing from expat friends over here when I first retired for settling down in a relationship - versus coninuing to have fun as a "butterfly" as every one of my friends over here still does. Well, all I can say, is not only do I not have to wear a face mask or worry about social distancing when we're being intement with each other - we don't have to wear condoms either.
As far as my "butterfly" friends: Their wings have been clipped and they're almost all lonely and depressed. Sad, but the truth.
The New Normal:
Maybe it's time to think about finding a boyfriend and enjoy life to the max - versus continuing to tiptoe through the poisoned poppy fields like Dorothy and Toto on their way to Oz...???
Just a thought!

6 months? Somewhere in between 6 months and 2 years is surely more likely. With the Delta variant on the loose and attacking younger people more than the early versions of the virus, with a tiny percentage of the population vaccinated, with the local AstraZeneca manufacturer sending more of its vaccines overseas than for use here in Thailand, and supplies of vaccines from various overseas sources not scheduled to arrive until the last quarter of 2021 and the first quarter of 2022, any visit prior to next summer would be too much of a risk for most older guys. The age of the boys in the gay bars and on the apps probably means they will be among the last in the line for vaccinations. And I wonder how many new variants will have ben identified by then.
I wish you luck.

Re: Available boys in Pattaya..
I've spent a long time just hoping that I'd soon be back in Thailand.
I've now let go of that hope and feel a lot better for it. Rather than looking forward to a trip this year or early next year, I've come to the unfortunate conclusion that I won't be travelling anywhere overseas until at least 2023.
So if I have to worry, I'll worry about something else instead.

Remaining "happy and hopefull", regardless of how anyone predicts the future, sounds like a pretty good idea to me. I've never quibbled over "reality" versus "vitual reality". Whichever one is more fun at the time works for me.

Seriously, this is something I am afraid I will not experience. There will be a time, which might be 50 years or more, that there will really be something like virtual reality. I don't mean some goggles and a joystick, but rather an experience that is hard to distinguish from reality.
Would you not sign up for something like that?

That is exactly the same approach that I'd be taking if I was in a similar situation.
This is also the same thing my daughter said to me a few months ago when discussing her plans for a return visit to Thailand.
Realistically (I know MFAS will like this) 2023 is a much safer bet all around.

I guess we are starting to get close. I don't really know as I don't play VR games for obvious reasons, but a friend of mine is a huge gamer. Dropped about $25,000 on a computer to play kind of gamer.
I guess it's apparently pretty realistic now. He was telling me about a first person shooter game he was playing. He'd raid a house, kill everyone needed, then while walking around he was able to pick up a can of soup out of the pantry and read the ingredients on it. That's pretty detailed and realistic.
Also, Neural Link is making quite the advancements. I guess they're at the point where they have them installed in monkeys now, and the monkeys can sit there and play pong together with just their thought to move the paddles, no joystick or anything. Once that advances some more, and if you're brave enough to let a robot run around and thread your brain with a computer interface, that'll probably come close to VR as it will be linked to your nervous system.

Re: Available boys in Pattaya..
For all my looking for available boys, there is a den of rent boys across the hall from me. The boys seem to drift in and out, sometimes a Farang will come by to pick one out. There’s also an older Thai man who seems to the papasan, and occasionally an older Farang will stay there. There is also a young Thai lady, I am not sure if she is working, or just hanging out with her boyfriend.
Of course, I can’t just pick from one of the boys, that would be wrong.
