Attitude adjustment session held outside military barracks for first time

For the first time, the junta has summoned people for the so-called attitude adjustment session outside military barracks. The summoned activist said this change would help improving junta’s image.
Recently, Gen Prawit Wongsuwan, the deputy junta head, has said that the so-called attitude adjustment sessions, the coercive discussions forced upon political dissidents by the military, will no longer be held in military barracks in order to make things seem softer and less intimidating.... Anti-junta academics remain defiant despite risk of imprisonment

One step closer to being tried by the Military Court, two embattled anti-junta academics stand firm on their ground, saying they only exercised the rights they are entitled to.
The Thai police on Thursday morning, 2 June 2016, has submitted a case file on the accusations against Attachak Sattayanurak and Somchai Preechasinlapakun, history and law lecturers from Chiang Mai University in northern Thailand, to the staff of the of the Military Judge Advocate General's Office, the BBC Thai reported.... Referendum might be postponed: junta head

The junta head has said that if the Constitutional Court rules that the controversial Referendum Act was unconstitutional, the August referendum might be postponed. The junta-appointed lawmakers said that with Article 44 of the Interim Charter, the junta had a power to postpone the referendum.
Thailand’s Ombudsman has recently submitted a petition to the Constitutional Court to rule whether the 2016 Referendum Act is unconstitutional or not. This is after a group of human rights advocates asked the Ombudsman to urgently review the Act, saying that Article 61 of the Referendum Act, which allows authorities to suppress critics of the junta’s charter draft, contradicts the 2014 Interim Charter.... Thailand to Welcome New Digital Ministry
BANGKOK — Thailand will soon welcome its first new ministry in a decade as the National Legislative Assembly Friday approved the formation of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society.
The junta-appointed assembly unanimously approved the draft to establish a 21st century ministry to develop the digital economy, something the military government has promoted heavily since seizing power in May 2014.
