Why are Thailand case numbers so low?
I can't be the only one noticing this. Literally every country in the world is experiencing skyrocketing case numbers at the moment due to the new Omni variant, and then we have Thailand.
Holding steady at about 3500/day. Does anyone else find this weird? Does a certain general maybe have his finger on the "data statistics" button?

No. The countries with “skyrocketing numbers” are open to all comers. SE Asian countries currently reporting low numbers all have controlled borders - not only Thailand, but also Cambodia and Vietnam. I’m expecting an Omicron tsunami in January, after everyone has gone back to the village to spread it to the rest of the family

Because they're not accurate?
Re: Why are Thailand case numbers so low?
It could be, everyone living outside of BKK or Pattaya,,,are not tested or being tested, so the cases are low at this time..

The more you test, the more you find. A better number would be cases / tests.
Cambodia recently changed how cases are counted, they count only serious illness.

Thais have to pay for a test: in many Western countries tests are free. There’s a disincentive for a Thai to get tested the PCR way. ATK tests are cheaper but less accurate and a positive result needs confirmation
