The 36 year old Minister for Health in the Republic of Ireland, Leo Varadkar, came out yesterday on national radio. This comes ahead of a referendum in the summer on same-sex marriage. So far, it seems to have been positively received.
Locally, the parish priest in my area came out two weeks ago during Mass - again talking about the referendum.
Interesting times here for gay people.
