Hi All
Just wondering what ever happened to Somporn
There used to be quite regular updates on his kidney transplant on these sites and I remember he had some sort of falling out with the Thais4life...but i have heard nothing of him since...

I'm not looking for a re-hash of the falling out with thais4life (if that ever happened?)

As someone who met him a few times I'd be interested in hearing how he is doing...

Thanks in Advance!

Not sure if you've checked their website, you do have to scroll down quite aways:

Somporn Kulkang, who was a young man working in Bangkok, is the original recipient of support from Thais4Life. Somporn was diagnosed in February 2002 with total kidney failure. He had no funds to pay for treatment, and was, essentially, sent home to die. With substantial international fund raising efforts and support by the Thais4Life movement, an ad hoc group dedicated to supporting him, Somporn survived initially with dialysis, and then received a kidney transplant - the donor being his sister Amorn. He now enjoys good health, is working full time in Bangkok, and providing he continues to maintain his medical regimen, may expect a near normal life expectancy.

Somporn will be dependant on mainly anti rejection drug medication for the rest of his life. The cost of this medication is approximately 10,000 baht per month, which of course exceeds his salary !!

Until September 2005, Somporn depended on the Thais4Life Medical Fund to finance this cost. Since then, Somporn has arranged for his own financial support, however, he is aware that in the event of an emergency, Thais4Life hold limited funding to tide him over that emergency.
