Whats the best discount site to obtain the best rates in bkk for hotels
I have no idea which site best for discount rates but http://www.asiarooms.com/ sometimes has good deals. Nothing stays the same and so best to check several sites.

I have used Agoda on a few occasions and their prices seem to be pretty good. I believe they have a banner ad on this forum

Try www.latestays.com (http://www.latestays.com) for up to 2 weeks in advance of your stay.

Try them all and compare. I often use Sawatdee (http://www.sawadee.com/) and then google and see if the hotel has a web site, sometimes cheaper, sometimes not.

For Bangkok, calling and/or just showing up can work well. I see a lot of hotels looking for customers and will put up sign 100B less then the best internet price. You can negotiate a lower price in person in Bangkok in some of the hotels especially the smaller family run hotels.

Really? This, going door-to-door, so to speak, used to be my favored method of booking a hotel in Thailand. But once most of the hotels contracted out to Internet sites and launched their own sites, going door-to-door only meant paying twice as much as everyone else.

So have things changed recently? Where have you done this recently, because I'd definitely like to get back in the habit? I hate booking ahead of time, paying ahead of time and then feeling trapped in a lousy hotel or even a boring city when I know I could be having a whole lot more fun somewhere else.

Do hotels really have signs that read, "100 bhat less than best Internet price?"

That would be fucking awesome.

I book a room for Bangkok 2-3 times a month and I swear Agoda is better than Asiarooms -which isn't bad itself. The difference is that Agoda seems to update itself with prices more than others. One really has to do "compare shopping" with these hotel booking websites...sometimes there can be a 20-30% more cost on some sites. Right now there are some big reductions due to the "recession" (and other events) that have wiped out pre-bookings in the 4-5 star hotels in BKK.

This Portal compares over 20 sites, it does the searching for you, I believe it compares over 400 hotels in Bangkok.

http://www.hotelscombined.com

However beware some suppliers included taxes and services charges and some do not, so always look at the final amount, you can change the currency if you want.

It is the Best Price Comparison Site on the Internet at the Moment.

I find that the hotel option on tavelsupemarket.com gives great rates on hotels everywhere, with suprising sites to link to (I didnt know asda supermarkets had a travel site as an example)
The 4 & 5 star and luxury come with amazing differences

Hope this helps somebody

Hey

when looking to book a room in Thailand, I found this site www.atsiam.com (http://www.atsiam.com)
Their prices seem good, cheaper than some of the other sites mentioned before.
I didn't book with them yet so far...
