Bars closed Friday 8 May?

I see that Friday 8 May is a national holiday (Visakha Bucha?) according to Gayaffairspattaya - does this affect bar
hours? Open? Closed?

Bars close only when some royal family member dies.

Krazy dragon had announced on 8 February 2009 that they will close on all major religious festivals. Visakha Bucha is the biggest of the festivals on the Buddhist calendar. It is up to each bar owner whether he wants to remain open, but the authorities do insist that alcohol should not be sold on religious holidays. The result therefore is that - depending on how major the festival is - you may find a patchwork. Some bars remain open (but dry) and others close.

I hope all the bars are closed that day. My body needs the rest.
