Anybody have any experience with the Bavana Hotel and Coffee shop on Silom Road? I'm told its small, but clean, cheap and gay friendly. My guy is reluctant to stay at the Pinnacle anymore because he's been told there is a ghost there LOL

BAVANA HOTEL
Taniya Soi 2, 25 Suriwongse Rd.,Bangrak,Bangkok 10500
Tel:0-2234-4000 Fax:0-2238-1009

"The hotel is nice, but the reason I go there is the massage. I would highly recommend that anyone going to BKK stop in and see my favorite Masseur. The traditional massage...not sexual is tremendous. If I pass through BKK I always go to get a massage from SURADET, his number is 78. He is young but was trained by the best and knows his work. For 250 BAHT to the massage parlour and a tip of 800baht you cannot find a better massage anywhere. Cafe at the hotel is pretty good too! Recommend" 800 baht tip! no sex?

"Bavana Hotel, Coffee Shop and Restaurant has been open for about two years and in that time has earned a high reputation for its excellent service. It has 34no. 3 star rooms each with a king size bed or two single beds along with own bathroom/shower, fridge, wardrobes, dressing table and table and chairs. Each is carpeted and with specialised mood lighting. It has its own restaurant and coffee shop where you can eat Thai, Japanese or European food or drink 24hrs a day. However, you should note that Thailand has recently introduced a law that limits the consumption of alcohol until 1am after which all bars close. Bavana is located on Suriwong Road and is only 1min from the nightlife area Pat Pong and 5 minutes walk to the beautiful Lumpini Park. Lumpini Park is based around two lakes surrounded with tropical gardens that are maintained to an extremely high standard. Traffic is banned from the park so you can walk and enjoy the scenery in complete safety; and when youтАЩre ready, you can call into one of the cafes and sample the local food and drink and very low prices. It is hard to believe that you are still in the middle of busy Bangkok. At the far end of the park is the famous Lumpini Thai Boxing stadium.
I would highly recommend it for its comfort, friendliness and convenient situation close by the recently constructed Sky Train with a local station located Silom Road. Using the Sky Train you can visit many of the sites and sounds of Bangkok without the hassle of the traffic problems with the cost starting at about 18p....."

I haven't stayed in this hotel before but did used one of the rooms for a 2hr massage. Most of the rooms are dark and have no windows. Tell your bf Pinnacle will still be better even if there's a ghost staying there!!! Ha ha..Thais always have lots of ghost stories to tell.
I used to stay at Saladaeng Svc Apt and one of the thai boys I offed told me not to stay there anymore because he was told someone committed suicide sometime ago. Then I changed to Pinnacle to please him on my next trip. Hope he won't hear this story now!! I am pleased with Pinnacle... ghost or no ghost!

I wrote the following back in Feb:

"A couple of years ago my Thai BF and myself were in the Pinnacle Hotel in Bangkok. We were in a room on the 12th floor.

When I awoke the following morning the light was on so I asked the BF why light on. He said 'man in loom last night'. As the door was doubly locked, to pacify him I asked him how did man get in room and why did you not wake me up. He said 'man walk thro wall, sit in chair then leave'.
By the door I asked - 'Yes by door, not open door just walk thro'.

I'm just glad that he didn't wake me, but the first thing I did was to check the mini bar, everything intact, even the spirits.

On another occasion in Chiang Mai, I awoke to hear my BF singing in his sleep - in Thai. However what was strange was the background music to his high pitched falsetto voice. Never been able to explain this occurrence to this day. "

Not just among Thais, but in a number of other Asian cultures, it is an accepted belief that some people can see ghosts. People around them tend to accept it like we would accept that some people are diabetic, for example. It's just part of their make-up and there's nothing much a third party can do about it.

There's no point trying to talk them not to believe what they do see; and anyway each of them would have developed his own way of managing that special attribute of his. Basically what I'm sayng is that if someone says he's seen a ghost, the best response is to take his word for it.

Pearl, can I off you for a halloween party? Granted, most of my friends are stiffs anyway - but they still appreciate lively entertainment. Ever since the local Wiccan coven got busted for cooking crystal meth in their cauldron I haven't been able to think of anything to top last year's "Fun Curse Grab Bag"

I can play the piano if you want to do a tribute to deceased divas.

Pearl? Diva? Should that be, diseased?

PS:
Where you been, Pearl? Visiting Betty again? :drunken:

PPS:
one2go;
Problem solved: Tell the boyfriend you have it on good authority (Mme. rustee.), (a) discriminating ghost prefers La Saladang.

PPPS:
Ghost catcher: Leave a (Plain, clear) glass of water sitting out. (Pearl's bf finds it works better with gin or vodka.)
