Has anyone found any spoof stories in the Thai English Language press today.

I've only read the business section of the Nation.

One story about a burgeoning economy admitted it was a spoof right at the end.

I'm pretty sure that the story about Thai farmers going to Nigeria to grow "Thai" rice is a spoof.

Then there was a story that the PM is leaving town for London with thousands of red shirts camping outside Government House. LMFAO at that one.

Has anyone found any spoof stories in the Thai English Language press today.

Not really "press" but this is on the weekly report this week, and thought it amusing:

Copa Showbar 2 to open in Jomtien
Because of the phenomenal success of the Copa Showbar in Boyztown Copa 2 is due to open this month (April) in Jomtien.
The bar will have hosts as go-go is not allowed in Jomtien Complex and a different show three times a night. There are no plans at present for a swim show.

Apart from the regular selection of drinks they will also be selling Guinness plus food will be available from the in-house food carts.
"We were very lucky to find this venue in such a busy area and I am sure we will be able to repeat the success of Boyz Town," a spokesman told us.
"There will be an 'all new show' three times a night, all drinks are 99 Baht all night and there will be no cover charge", he added.

Bomb blows hole in Lenin statue

Lenin's statue was left with a gaping hole

One of Russia's most famous statues of Vladimir Lenin has been bombed, leaving the Bolshevik revolutionary with a gaping hole in his rear.

The bronze statue, in the city of St Petersburg, was badly damaged before dawn on Wednesday, when the blast blew a hole in Lenin's coat.

No-one was hurt in the attack, the motive for which was unknown.

The statue, outside the Finland Station, marks the Bolshevik leader's return from exile in April 1917.

"Today at 0430 [0030 GMT] there was an explosion at the Lenin monument at the Finland Station in the city centre," a spokesman for the Saint Petersburg branch of the Russian emergency situations ministry told the AFP news agency.

"As a result of the explosion a crater of 80-100cm [31-39in] appeared on the monument," he added.

And is this a true April Fool's story?

Burger King published a full page advertisement in 'USA Today' announcing the introduction of a new item to their menu: a "Left-Handed Whopper" specially designed for the 32 million left-handed Americans. According to the advertisement, the new whopper included the same ingredients as the original Whopper (lettuce, tomato, hamburger patty, etc.), but all the condiments were rotated 180 degrees for the benefit of their left-handed customers.
The next day Burger King issued a follow-up release revealing that although the Left-Handed Whopper was a hoax, thousands of customers had gone into restaurants to request the new sandwich. Simultaneously, according to the press release, "many others requested their own 'right handed' version."

There was an advertisement along the bottom of page one of the New Zealand Hearald that Pacific Blue Airline (Virgin Group) would be having a spray tanning booth on flights from New Zealand to Australia so tourists wouldn't feel so "white" when they arrived for their holiday. This class of travel would be called Bronze Class!
