I seem to have accumulated a fair number of old eyeglasses, frames & lenses.

Sometime in the past I think I recall there was some place at least in Pattaya, but maybe more generally in Thailand, that collected old eyeglasses, frames and lenses that could be re-used by organizations that serve the poor. Google has produced nothing. I thought maybe Beautiful Optics, but I don't see anything in their local shops that looks like a collection point.

Anyone know where they might be donated?

I realize this is not an especially gay issue, but given the topics that have recently been posted here I assume that's no longer an issue in this forum.

I think that is a project of the Lions Club International.

Perhaps the Smithsonian? (just a failed attempt at some jocularity, Khun X).

As not being a "gay" issue, I've always understood that anything dealing with Thailand is okay for this forum and your post is close enough. Perhaps the wacky Canadian can further elucidate on the rules without making a spectacle of this particular issue?

Geezer is right. The Lions do have a programme:

But there doesn't seem to be a recycling centre in Thailand.

This gives information on local projects in Thailand

This is actually a very good idea. Would probably be used a lot if a mobile unit dispensing around countryside.

I asked the very helpful staff in Paris Miki Isetan Branch at Central World in Bangkok a long time back and they told me that they accepted old glasses which they then passed on for re-use so maybe your local optician knows of some scheme.
