Congratulations to Poseiden and Panorama for taking time out to bring some pleasure into the lives of the boys in the orphanage. Last weekend a big charity football tournament took place at the orphanage.
There were 16 football teams that had to pay 20,000 Baht starting money. The resulting 320,000 Baht were put at the disposal of the orphanage for the full 100%.
The Poseidon guest house started with 3 teams.
The first team was sponsored by the Hamburg based company VIG Druck, led by Jan, one of our regular guests. For VIG Druck a team of children formerly brought up in the orphanage, played with their captain Dum, our receptionist. Unfortunately, the tournament was over for them after the preliminary round, but the boys fought very well and it was a closely fought battle.
The Poseidon Team was composed of the five best 11 years old players from the orphanage and was completed by five more players from Panorama (thanks!), Peter from Mainz and my humble self (anyone who laughs, will be banned from the premises). After a thrilling match, we lost the quarter finals from the team that later won the tournament. It was an unforgettable tournament, especially for the children.
The biggest surprise of the tournament was the IBR Team, sponsored by a circle of friends from Hamburg who enjoyed their holidays at Poseidon, and spontaneously offered to sponsor a team. The IBR-team was a team of players composed of policemen and immigration officials, all of them over 40 years old, who reached the finals but lost on penalty kicks.
Poseidon has sponsored the orphanage for many years and would like to take the opportunity to say тАШthank youтАЩ to all the hotel guests, as we can support the orphanage only because of our loyal guests. Thanks again to the IBR friends from Hamburg and to Jan from VIG Druck, and thanks also to Bernd, another regular guest, who spent two days of his stay to referee the event and did a wonderful job.
