My friends and I arrived in Bangkok last Saturday and we checked into the Intercontinental Hotel. The hotel was exceptionally nice, conveniently located and the bed was heavenly. This is my new Bangkok hotel, for sure!
Our first night in Bangkok inevitably lead to the tourist trap in Patpong. My instincts told me to not purchase anything yet, as I was not yet reacquainted with Thai prices, but I overspent 500 bhat on 5 sexy briefs. As it was a bit too early to hit up any clubs, my buddy and I decided to go to one of the massage venues not too far from the gay gogo boy venues. The massage parlor was g-rated and offered both male & female masseuses. We opted for a head, back and shoulder massage. A half hour into the massage, as the thai boy was vigoriously massaging my rear, and I was fearing an erection coming on, the guy next to my buddy had some type of stroke/heart attack. He was a big guy, roughly 60 years old and appeared to be German, although I can't say where Igot that impression. His masseuse screamed for help and 10 Thai boys rushed over to the German. The German had both hands rigidly raised in front of him, fists tightly clenched, and bloddy foam coming out of his mouth. The German's masseuse, along with the 10 other Thai boys began massaging his chest and belly. The German lowered his hands and appeared to have hit the unexpected bucket. The thai boys relentlessly massaged the German, not giving up. They dug the German's tounge out of his bloody, foamy mouth, and held some type of bottle under his nose. The ambulance appeared what seemed like hours later.
What struck me through this whole episode was how the Thai never gave up on the guy. I am positive the German had died and the guys' effort revived him and possibly saved his life. I'm not sure what I would have done in a similiar situation, but my hat is off to these guys who didn't give up. I am, once again, struck by Thai hospitatlity! They certainly go above & beyond, don't they?
In Pattaya, I checked into the Ambiance Hotel where I normally stay. I pay roughly 1700 bhat per night and that's okay with me, as I don't normally stay more than 2-3 weeks at a time in Pattaya. Let me just say that if you plan to stay here in the near future, you should check out the beds. My bed was akin to sleeping on pavement. After 2 nights, I gathered all my condoms & socks & checked into into Le Cafe Royale. I've never stayed here before and I am quite impressed. The general room itself (the one that goes for 1700 bhat) is not as nice as the Ambiance, and the water is either ice cold or burning skin, but it's been a really nice experience.
I haven't met anyone from SGT, but have taken some advice gathered over the months I've been reading the board. I went to Sunnee Plaza for the first time and was very impressed with Krazy Dragon!
I have to go to dinner now. Chow!
