All the real spam is automated now anyway* , and the bots can't get through the phpbb3 registration for now (knock on wood!), so if mirg999 is a spammer, at least he is flesh and blood (which is an almost nonexistent breed of spammer in this day and age).

Also, you see how the link in the OP doesn't work, but (until I edited it just now) the link in 555's quote of it did? That's because new members can't post hot links until they have 5 posts under their belt. If a newbie is a spammer it will become obvious by then and we'll have already gotten rid of them. Mirg999 is at least on topic anyway, so we will give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

5,000-10,000 spam comments on each thread. No human could do this, nor can any human delete each one one at a time, so I'm working on getting a SQL command that will clear all the comments from wowpow's blog. He had the permissions set to "guests can post", which no one can do anymore. I'd hate to have to delete that blog.

Typo's, spelling mistakes, grammar... you name it. That sentance has to the most incomprehensible bunch of words I think I've ever tried to read.

My theory was that that was either the work of a human spammer, in which case I will only have to stop a few of them, or it is automated and there are bots that can crack the captcha now, in which case I may need to make the new member activation manual by administrator only.

I was simply stating that all of us make typos; we have misspelled words that we fail to catch when we are reading it though. In addition, all of us have incomprehensible posts after a few San Miguel lights. For short here, we simply call them Mig Lights. It was not my intention to be incomprehensible, but my time was limited and I did not read the post afterwards. However, I can see you are one of those English teachers with no papers to grade. So have fun, if you follow all my posts you will be making corrections and red lining words all week.

If he is over 30 likely you are right, I shiver at the thought. Although I have tried it and at least was delightfully pleased have been in bed with a guy 38. However, I like you do have a tendency to play around a bit and anyone with any forethought can construct a sentence. Nevertheless, the English teachers of the world need something to do.
