I just added a feature that tells you who is in chat before you enter chat. Hover over "board features" in the header meu bar, then you can see next to where it says "chat" is a number in parenthasis. That is the number of people currently in chat. If you hover over "chat" you get a tooltip that lists all the names of the online members.
